Accounts Payable Accountant

Full cycle accounts payable position performs the following duties:

  • Ensures all vouchers for payment include performance of 3-way match and are authorized per the Delegated Authority Matrix.

  • Inputs PO and Non-PO invoices, ensuring GL account posting is correct and has proper approval.

  • Reviews purchase price variances that are generated from the invoice.

  • Working with other functions, research and resolves GRNI and vendor return issues.

  • Prepares inter-company reconciliations and payments.

  • Answers all vendor inquiries promptly via email or telephone.

  • Prepares AP checks, ACH payment and wire transfers in ERP system and Banking software.

  • Prints all accounts payable reports and maintains all accounts payable files.

  • Prepare analysis of AP accounts for vendor payments based on cash flow targets.

  • Prepares monthly close AP accruals and reconciles allAP related accounts.

  • Files & scansAP documents into appropriate directories/folders.

  • Perform fixed asset additions, disposal and maintain monthly deprecation schedule

  • Assists in other areas of the accounting department, as necessary.

  • Process employee expense reports.

  • Forwardall hardcopy checks (sent to office) to lockboxand contact suppliers with correct remit-to address

  • Open and distribute all mail sent to Houston office

  • Other duties may be assigned.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures and organizes work areas for efficiency and safety.

  • Provides status reports to management as required.

  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree and/or

  • Five plus years experience and/or training in accounting and/or accounts payable experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus..

  • Experience processing charges and payments in foreign currency a plus.

  • Experience processing a high volume of transactions thru an ERP system preferred.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment a plus.

  • Moderate/advanced skills in MS Excel and be proficient in MS Word and MS Suites applications.

Knowledge and Skills:


Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.


Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
