Cargill has an exciting opportunity for an Admin. Assistant for our North Kingtown, RI facility. This position is responsible for enabling the location operation to ensure timely collection, validation and recording of production paperwork to support inventory management processes and targets. Also supports the business invoicing process as well as the payables, month-end accruals and other ad-hoc activities.

This position requires a person with an innate ability to relate to people in a manufacturing plant setting. A person who will have contact with the production staff on a daily basis and will spend time both at the office and at the plant seeking to collaborate with the manufacturing area to make processes to be followed, validate the accuracy of the information generated by the plant staff in various areas, communicate, validate and enforce processes and collaborate to make improvements in processes.

30% Collect all production and raw material receiving paperwork. Confirm quantities, unit of measure, pricing and correct material codes to ensure integrity of information for the paperwork reflecting production floor transactions. Verify correct materials are captured on production forms and research inventory discrepancies to ensure accuracy of inventory, including rework and inventory adjustments.

20% Receive on non-raw material vendors purchase orders, external warehouses and transfers from other company locations. Processing purchase orders and their supporting documentation and submitting it for payment to the proper channels. Ensure accounting of these transactions and accruals as part of the month-end book closing.

20% Organize and perform physical inventories and system vs., actual reconciliations.

10% Generate invoices and manage EDI transactions with customers as needed.

10% Assist in various month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations.

10% Other ad-hoc.




Minimum Required:
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting experience.
  • Demonstrated high initiative to promote continues improvement.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to effectively manage multiple priorities, work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to learn fast and adapt positively to an ever-changing environment.
  • Solid Microsoft Office application abilities with a good understanding and the ability to learn about information systems.

Preferred:
  • SAP experience.
  • Standard cost accounting knowledge/experience.
  • Associate degree in accounting or finance.
