Position Summary


The Agile Delivery Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and motivating teams to achieve a high level of performance and quality by ensuring the delivery of business value with an agile mindset. This role is accountable for the teams operational model success. This includes responsible for running the program level planning that includes Epic plans, Version Plans, Testing methods along with release assurance for 6 teams. The expectation is that this individual can ensure governance and accountability across these teams as they each execute multiple Epics per Program Increment. The environment is fast-paced and is across multiple enterprise business domains. The Release Train Engineer may play several different roles in actual practice:


  • A servant leader acting in a consultative role to drive agile disciplines that hold team(s) for accountable for delivery and continuous improvements

  • A techno-functional analyst that can work with Product Owners to break down complex problems into organized epics/feature/story map.

  • A trusted partner that fosters strong relationships with business stakeholders, technical management, architects and engineering resources

  • A disciplined governor that ensures proper work entry, agile process measurement, continuous improvement and release assurance

In performing these functions, this individual will be expected to have high level of expertise across both traditional project management and Scaled Agile Framework. This role understands how to structure change management plans that mature teams/stakeholders from a waterfall culture to lean agile mindsets. Lastly, this role must have a mix of techno/functional skills to ensure we challenge Product Owners as well as Technical Leaders with the right questions.


Responsibilities:


Own Agile Planning


  • Ensure organization of delivery processes including work entry, program incremental planning, feature/story level mapping, grooming, demos and release plans

  • Ensure communications across stakeholder channels to for clear understanding of priorities, status, risks, blockers, and decisions

  • Conduct capacity management, Epic Planning and version planning

Facilitate Team Management


  • Holding team accountable for their commitments and challenging them for continuous improvement

  • Conducting team ceremonies for stand-ups, grooming, retrospectives

  • Keep team(s) morale high

  • Managing customer expectations for deliverables and team working agreements

  • Coach Product Ownership to effectively define, prioritize and accept work

  • Capture performance measurements of team such as velocity, quality, lead time and value

  • Prevention and/or removal of blockers that slow cadence

Deployment & Release Engineering


  • Define overall release processes including integration and testing (QA,UAT) across team(s) for stable deployments

  • Drive DevOps and CI/CD maturity across teams

  • Drive plans to ensure stable steady state production operations

Minimum Work Experience


  • 8+ years of overall Technical Project Management experience

  • 3+ years application development

  • 2+ years of Agile Leadership experience as a Scrum Master and/or Product Owner (preferred Scaled Agile Framework SAFe)

  • Basic technical abilities for SQL data analysis

  • Advanced understanding of software development lifecycles including service oriented approach, CI/CD and DevOps operations

  • Experience driving and maturing continuous integration and quality automations

  • Workflow definition and management with Agile Project management tools such as JIRA, Rally or Version One

  • Proven team player with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic agile work environment

  • Supported a metrics-driven data culture to drive accountability and transparency

  • Passionate problem solver and motivated self-starter including ability to analyze situation and recommend sound solutions and implementation strategies

Additional Desired Skills:


  • Scrum Master and/or Product Owner certifications

  • Experience working as hands on technical resource

  • Experience with MS Dynamics CRM, PowerBI, SAP ERP

  • Consulting experience

Education


  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or combination of education and experience.
