The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nations most effective animal protection organization, is seeking a Compensation Analyst for its Human Capital and Development department. This position is responsible for performingand assisting withvarious duties and projects associated with thedesign andadministration of compensation programs, policies, and initiatives, and acting as an internal consultant and resource on compensation issues and needs for other Human Resources staff,executives,management,and employees.





This position will be responsible for:





  • Creatingor updating jobdescriptionsin partnershipwith managers,evaluating jobs anddeterminingFLSA classification statuses,andmarket pricingjobsto assign pay gradesaspart of the position requisition process;


  • Analyzingcandidate andsalary information during the recruiting processtodevelop recommended offer amounts for new hires and internal position changes;


  • Presentingrecommendationsto hiring managers andthe Talent Acquisition team andaddress any concerns or issues;


  • Assisting with the annual salary increaseand promotionprocesses;


  • Participating in annual salary surveys by gathering and organizingemployee and positiondata for third party vendors;


  • Analyzingpurchasedsurvey data on an annual basis toensuremarket competitiveness;


  • Coordinating pay grade andsalary structurechanges as necessary,ensuring that all documentation is updated and communicated;


  • Maintaining thehuman resource information systemdatabaseas itrelatesto salaries and pay actions; conducting ongoing audits to ensure data integrityand quality assurance.Preparing regular and special ad hoc reports, and conductinganalyses on compensation programs, practices, and actions;


  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable federal and state employment laws and maintain the confidentiality of all HR-related information;


  • Assisting with developing and delivering communications and other materials to educate managers and employees on compensation programs, policies, and processes;


  • Assisting with variouscompensationprojects to include program designandanalysis;


  • Providing timely and accurate responses to compensation inquiries regarding programs, policies, and processes.



Qualifications and Requirements:



  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors Degree in Human ResourceManagementorotherrelated field,or equivalent years of experiencestrongly preferred;


  • Minimum of two years of analytical experience required; preferably compensation related experience;


  • Knowledge ofHR andcompensationpolicies and best practicespreferred;


  • Knowledge of federal regulations as they apply to compensation programs and processes, as well as related applicable state laws, along with the ability to apply that knowledge effectively to ensure compliancepreferred;


  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and evaluate complex data and informationtodevelop recommendations;


  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to excellence and the drive to deliver quality and value-added results and outcomes;


  • Ability to read and comprehend the content of documents and take appropriate action;


  • Strong editing and grammar skills;


  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting in a courteous, timely, and diplomatic manner with all levels ofstaffas well as other parties/stakeholders involved with the organization;


  • Strongcommunication skills with the ability toorganize,articulate,andpresent ideas both verbally and in writing;


  • Strongorganizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines with an appropriate sense of urgency;


  • Ability to work independently,as an effective team member,and with all levels of the organization;


  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office(Outlook, Excel, Word,PowerPoint). Knowledge of Dayforce or other majorhuman resource information systemhelpful;


  • Ability to handle information of a confidential nature and ensure that such information is secured and maintained in an appropriate manner;


  • An interest in and commitment to animal welfare and protection is highly desired.
