Our Dispute & Investigations team of professionals consists of expert testifiers and consultants who bring an independent point of view, deep financial expertise and the know-how to turn complex issues into clear persuasive testimony for legal counsel and their clients. Services include intellectual property disputes, commercial and shareholder disputes, fraud, forensic and investigative services, M&A purchase price disputes and arbitration, business insurance consulting, bankruptcy litigation, merger trustee services and tax litigation.

Responsibilities:


TheAnalyst will be responsible for assisting with the hands-on execution of investigative, forensic data analysis projects for our litigation/legal industry clients. Multi-tasking and unstructured problem solving is essential. The projects are primarily managed by Managing Directors or Project Mangers, but the team collaborates on problem solving techniques and engagement protocols. Other duties will include the following:

  • Write queries in SQL to pull requested data from a database.
  • Perform open-ended investigative analysis of data to discover anomalies, unusual behavior, and unexpected trends.
  • Import data files into a Microsoft SQL Server database.
  • Characterize results of data analysis in clear and simple terms for non-technical staff.
  • Help project managers understand their data needs and plan the analysis of data.
  • Read computer programs written by others in various programming languages (e.g., Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, SQL, R, VB, SAS, C, C++, etc.) in order to grasp their overall function and purpose.
  • Restructure existing Excel files for improved clarity and efficiency.
  • Develop computer programs or macros to help automate repetitive manual tasks.

Requirements:
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, engineering, finance, accounting, or economics
  • Experience in computer programming

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with SQL queries.
  • Experience with databases and data tables.
  • Experience with computer programming (Python, Ruby, Java, Perl, SQL, R, VB, SAS, C, C++, etc.)
  • Experience with Excel VBA macros.
  • Experience with DOS commandline.
