EDF Energy Services is our customer-facing operation providing integrated energy management services to commercial and industrial, power generation, and retail supply customers. Taking into account a customers entire energy portfolio, solutions are structured to provide competitive market pricing and to optimize energy usage and generation assets. We offer a complete suite of services to energy-intensive retail customers, from energy supply and hedging to on-site generation management and demand response. And we provide wholesale market access and ISO interface services to a broad network of retail energy providers with footprints across the deregulated markets. For power generation customers, we provide energy management services that encompass fuel supply, scheduling, dispatch, market analysis and risk management all within a single contract. Focused on service, we created a digital integrated platform and customer interface that allows transparent views into energy portfolios and invoices, market prices, analytics and weather.

Department
Financial Control is responsible for accounting, management and statutory reporting, financial planning and analysis for the EDFT NA Group, and for the operation of financial controls and processes. Accounting and reporting are primarily under the framework of IFRS. Financial control works closely with management and the business in the development, production and maintenance of business performance reports which accurately reflect the trading and cost performance of each business segment within the company and group.


Financial Control also provides advice to management on process risks and likely financial and disclosure impacts of new transactions, including revenue and cost recognition and classification, balance sheet representation, working capital impact and the effect on return on capital.


Position Summary
The Financial Control team is involved in various aspects of financial processes, controls, reports and analyses. The team works with other control functions (including Product Control, Treasury, Tax, Credit, Confirmations and Settlements) on the design, development, implementation, operation and monitoring of controls and reporting to continuously improve business and process controls, and information and analysis to inform management decision making.


The Financial Analyst will assist in designing, implementing, monitoring and maintaining controls and processes for the purchase of goods and services for, and over the physical assets owned by, EDF Trading NA. In this role, the Financial Analyst will help facilitate vendor on-boarding including setup within the system. EDF Trading NA has implemented a purchasing/invoice processing system, the Financial Analyst will be in charge of operating and maintaining the purchasing system, designing and implementing any necessary evolution as required by the business.


The majority of non-trading purchases (by volume and value) for EDF Trading NA relate to IT equipment and services and data subscriptions. Other high value categories include, telecoms, consulting/legal fees and office services. A substantial part of non-trading purchases are also submitted via employee expenses this role will also need to address this issue designing, implementing and maintaining a detailed policy for expenses submissions andreimbursements. This policy will have to be implemented in the frame of EDF Trading Group expenses policy and then will require a strong cooperation with the Head office in London.


Essential functions
Ensure compliance policies and procedures and audit controls within areas of responsibility, overhead, T&E and capital expenditure
Assist the Financial Control team with any process/system improvement projects with the long term aim of improving efficiency whilst not increasing operational and financial risks
Assist with monthly close process including booking journal entries, reconciling accounts, consolidation and other various tasks
Act as liaison to auditors for both IFRS audits yearly and mid-year - mainly providing supporting documentation to journal entry selections
Review and ensure accounting records are maintained in a consistent way and comply with the Group Accounting policies and International Financial Reporting Standards
Provide timely and accurate financial information and summary reports to improve forecast accuracy and reliability
Prepare and analyze intercompany monthly recharges and account reconciliations
Prepare reports and analysis on financial indicators, business performance and other metrics, for management
Recommend improvements to processes based on analysis and interpretation of financial data
Coordinate with teams participating in the production of the financial reporting to ensure adequate documentation, accuracy and completeness of accounts reconciliations
Participate in special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests


Experience Technical Requirements:
Undergraduate or Masters degree in Accounting IFRS knowledge
1 to 3 years applicable experience, in public accounting and/or the Energy industry
Experience in an international environment, financial reporting to a foreign Parent Company
Knowledge and experience with financial accounting, month-end close, accounts reconciliations and financial analysis Excellent Excel skills, particularly to provide drill down reporting capability
Hands-on experience in financial systems, such as SAP, SUN or Invoice/T&E processing systems such as Concur, Certify


Preferred Skills:
CPA or CPA candidate,
Knowledge of retail and wholesale energy activities Solid foundations in accounting processes, journal entries, month end close processes and controls
Demonstrated proficiency in streamlining accounting processes across different teams
Excellent written and verbal skills
Self-motivated and interested in working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
