Assistant Director, Student Programming

The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Assistant Director, Student Programming.

Directs the administrative functions and coordinates all areas and projects associated with major student programming / policy groups including Senior Week, Junior Parents Weekend, Student Union Board, Class Council(s) and Welcome Weekend. Responsible for the coordination, implementation and/or supervision of more than 200 activities and events sponsored by student run clubs, organizations and residence hall councils. Designs and implements strategies for office-sponsored social, service and leadership programming. Assists the Director with administrative responsibilies for the office including communications, marketing, technology, staff hiring/training/development and departmental approvals. Advises the Student Union Board, a branch of the student government, Executive Programming Board and a class council. The AD is a full time 12 month position with late night and weekend programming responsibilities year round.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advises specific Student Government programming groups such as the Student Union Board and a class council in administering their budgets, fund-raising activities, planning for special programs and in ensuring continuity from year-to-year.
- Coordinates programming events for the Student Activities Office including large all University events such as Welcome Weekend, Junior Parents' Weekend and Senior Week. Develops, plans and executes major SAO events such as Domer Fest and the first three weeks of school.
- Evaluates and approves outdoor grounds reservations. Meet with user of the reserved space to review policies, determine technical needs and space requirements. Approves events submitted for Student Activities Office departmental approval ranging from fundraisers, dances or imprinted items.
- Oversees the advancement of a vibrant and forward-looking leadership and/or programming series. May develop and manage programs which include movies, concerts, novelty acts, leadership programs and musical productions.
- Assists with the hiring, training and supervision of student office assistants and interns. Supports various administrative responsibilities for the Student Activities Office including marketing, technology, and/or communications.
- Assists student clubs and organizations with the development and facilitation of their large scale events events including concerts and special events. Examples include Notre Dame Right to Life March for Life, Holy Half Marathon and student group major fundraising events. Serves as a resource on contract matters, liability/risk avoidance and ensuring compliance with University policy.
- Provides on-site supervision of designated events as Event Manager to oversee use, admission receipts, compliance with policies, the hospitality of performer(s) and to assist in problem resolution in any of our centers and venues.
- Participates as an integral member of a large, multifaceted Student Development team interacting daily with colleagues working with facilities operations, Legends (on campus nightclub and restaurant), Residence Life (student conduct), Gender Relations Center, Multicultural Student Programs and Services, and the student media groups.

Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a master’s degree in college student personnel, counseling, higher education or a related area. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of full-time experience with group advising, large scale event planning and departmental administrative responsibilities. Qualifications include advanced understanding of personal computers (including desktop publishing), strong organizational skills and the knowledge of and desire to develop cutting edge leadership and social programs.

Additional qualifications include exceptional communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with a diverse group that includes students, staff, faculty and the public. The successful candidate will also possess a commitment to fostering Judeo-Christian values, consistent with the mission of a Catholic university founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross.
