Job Summary
The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago (Bank) has an immediate opening within the Supervision and Regulation (S&R) department for an Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Information Technology and Information Management (IM) Support. This position directs the efforts of two teams responsible for technology support/implementation of System technology platforms, information security, and IM. The successful candidate is responsible for long-term strategic planning for the technology function within S&R and ensuring resources are appropriately allocated to convert strategic initiatives into operational plans. As part of the Bank and S&R leadership, the position works closely with senior leadership to identify business needs and deliver tactical and technical solutions. The position will be based in our landmark office in Chicago's Financial District.

The successful candidate for this position will be able to coordinate with and develop strong working relationships with S&R supervisory teams, counterparts in the Bank and System within information technology, as well as serve on senior level committees. This position requires strong leadership and project management skills along with the ability to coach and develop staff to create a cohesive and effective team. The role requires a leader who is agile, forward-looking and aware of how changes to the existing environment may result in future improvement opportunities. The level of work required is considered advanced and this job has direct reports.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in department strategic and financial planning activities, including defining and prioritizing initiatives and resources, developing performance measures and evaluating progress.
  • Serves as an effective leader and contributes to teamwork within the business unit and across the department, including setting an example of leadership and teamwork that demonstrates the Bank's core values, code of ethics and department competencies.
  • Responsible for the department information security program, including incorporating information security controls and best practices into technology solutions.
  • Leads and/or participates in the transition and implementation of legacy technology platforms to still evolving national solutions.
  • Directs and administers the information management program including maintenance of guiding documents and development, testing and maintenance of and adherence to IM policies and procedures.
  • Develops relationships with customers and service provider functions to fully understand needs, new technology, and infrastructure affordability. Use diplomacy and relationships to advance solutions within a consensus-driven culture.
  • Proactively identifies resource savings and efficiency opportunities for Senior Management consideration.
  • Identifies and manages inherent risks within the business unit to ensure an effective internal control environment and assesses and implements controls to mitigate those risks.
  • Develop and recommend improvements to relevant policies, procedures, programs and practices.
  • Manage program resources and budget with appropriate compliance with enterprise standards, processes, and controls. Ensure highly effective project management practices.
  • Recommend promotions, salary actions and makes effective hiring and personnel decisions.
  • Lead and/or participate in Department, Bank and System projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degrees or certifications preferred but not required.
  • 7-10 plus years of experience managing and directing teams.
  • Prior information technology or information security experience with an emphasis on implementation of technology solutions is a plus.

  • Proven ability to manage and deliver on multiple, complex projects and initiatives.
