The Associate Director for the Events Management team, Americas Regional Marketing, is responsible for ensuring the successful planning, execution, measurement and reporting of customer-facing events in the Americas region (Canada, North America, South America).

The ideal candidate will have deep industry experience in managing a team of Event Managers and/or Trade Show Managers preferably in the Biotech, Pharma, or Medical Device industry and have a proven track-record of contributing to growth and ROI.

The candidate should have expertise in managing and budgeting for a high volume of events and effectively managing external vendors and internal stakeholders while establishing collaborative relationships. Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation, sourcing hotel venues, creating registration sites using CVent, managing programs on-site and compliance reporting (e.g. Sunshine Act) is paramount.

The ability to effectively motivate and provide strategic guidance to a team that is supporting a high volume of complex and fast-paced events in a quickly changing and high-pressure environment is critical. A can-do attitude, the ability to work collaboratively in a matrixed environment, lead cross-functional teams and the desire to drive operational efficiency are critical for success in this position.

  • Serve as a key partner to a matrixed organization: Corporate Marketing, Regional Marketing, Sales, Operations, Service & Support, Legal, Compliance, Finance and C-suite
  • Prior relevant experience driving brand representation and consistency and delivering on experiential events and trade shows with large attendance and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills; proven ability to get things done without formal authority
  • Ability to translate strategy into action; strong influence, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with customers and key stakeholders, good conflict management skills
  • Strong presentation skills; highly effective at summarizing and presenting decision points and key considerations
  • Impeccable communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely across multiple audiences and executive level partners
  • Identify, recommend and implement operational efficiency opportunities for streamlining team and business processes
  • Stay current on local, regional, national and worldwide regulatory requirements relating to online marketing, promotions, disclaimers, advisory notices, etc
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations including, but not limited to Sunshine Act reporting, AdvaMed, MedTech and GDPR

Education, Experience

  • Bachelors degree required
  • CMP Certification desired
  • CVent Certification desired
  • Minimum 10 years event management experience with a focus on strategic meetings management with proven experience leading a team of event professionals
  • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
