As a key member of the Market Development team, this individual will be responsible to develop, implement and actively manage the market development strategy for new genomics applications that utilize next gen sequencing, with an initial focus on gene editing. Ideal candidates for this position will have strong knowledge of genomics in the research setting and an understanding of how discoveries are being translated into widespread application of NGS. In this position the candidate would have the opportunity to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and survey emerging areas with a potential for significant use of NGS. Successful candidates will combine strong scientific understanding with strategic analysis, business acumen and leadership skills.


  Leads the development of annual strategic marketing plan for new genomic technologies.

  Leads the development of market analysis for assigned business areas, identifying environmental trends, opportunities and risks. Interprets market trends to identify implications for next gen sequencing. Develops and presents compelling market analysis presentations for inclusion in decision point reviews, strategic plans or business development analyses.

     Build and manage close relationships with KOLs and industry influencers in order to achieve market development goals and stay abreast of emerging market trends. Conceive and execute strategy to influence key stakeholders such as industry bodies, regulators and payers

     Leverage and communicate market information internally to best inform Illuminas product development, regulatory and market entry strategies

  Prepares and presents company profiles on competitors and potential partnering candidates. Supports business development activities including development of strategic rationale to partner with external partners

     Develop scientific and commercial proof points to increase system placements and reagent utilization

Required Skills & Experience:

     Graduate level education in Genetics, Molecular Biology, or other related science field; Ph.D. or MBA is desirable

     10+ years experience with genomics technologies, products and/or applications; ideally with experience in a research setting

     Previous business strategy, business development, or strategic marketing experience related to genomics and new applications.

     Proven experience in a strategic role working collaboratively and independently to drive results

     Ability to influence across the organization at all levels, including previous experience in a highly matrixed organization would be preferred.

     Willingness to travel up to 50%
