The Lead Discovery group within Global Biologics Research at Takeda Boston is seeking an enthusiastic and capable individual with expertise in high-throughput recombinant protein expression and purification. The successful candidate will be able to independently design and implement experiments. The individual will also be responsible for participating on matrix project teams, interfacing very closely with members of the Global Biologics and IO Biology teams.


  • High-throughput expression of protein constructs in a variety of host-cell systems (E. coli, baculovirus, yeast, mammalian)
  • Purification of recombinantly expressed proteins using automated chromatographic techniques
  • Evaluate and implement new methods for high throughput protein expression and purification
  • Collaborate with automation engineers to identify suitable approaches to utilize laboratory automation for the execution of high throughput expression and purifcation
  • Troubleshoot complex problems in creative and effective ways and actively participate in innovation and/or optimization of established processes to ensure delivery on project goals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to work in cross-functional project teams
  • Ability to advance multiple projects in a fast paced environment
  • Present research findings clearly and effectively at internal and external meetings
  • Assay development and protein characterization experience using biophysical techniques is a plus


  • BS/MS with 3+ years of relevant experience or equivalent, in early stage pharmaceutical drug discovery
  • Hands on experience with laboratory automation, liquid handlers and automated storage systems is a plus
  • Team player able to liaise across multiple disciplines including Automation, Cell Biology, Chemistry, Inventory Management and Immunology
  • Self-motivated, collaborative with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Skilled in analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results
  • Innovative and critical thinking
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to troubleshoot and optimize experiments.


  • Manual dexterity required to operate office equipment (i.e., computers, phones, etc.).
  • Carrying, handling and reaching for objects up to 25 lbs.
  • Working in a lab environment: standing, walking, bending, etc.


  • Willingness to travel to various meetings or collaborator sites, including overnight trips. Some international travel may be required.
