Automation Technicians are required to have a thorough understanding of safe work practices and troubleshooting and maintenance of manufacturing equipment. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Willing to take full responsibility for personal safety and the safety of fellow team members

  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures

  • Executing preventative and corrective maintenance work orders

  • Properly documenting activities as to actual work done, parts used, etc. in MP2 (CMS)

  • Assisting in improving PM procedures by participating in procedure audits and reviews, recommending PM changes based on personal observations, etc.

  • Maintaining PLCs, robots, drives, automated guided vehicles, electrical and electronic circuitry, overload protection, and wiring complex circuits

  • Ensuring all electrical and mechanical work meets established codes and standards

  • Responding to, troubleshooting and diagnosing emergencies or breakdowns with production equipment

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Three (3)years of electrical experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment

  • Experience reading technical diagrams and schematics

  • Experience troubleshooting electrical controls, PLCs, A/C and D/C motors, motor controllers and drives

  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems

  • Experience with preventative, predictive, and reliability-based maintenance practices

  • Experience with industry codes and standards (ex. NEC, UL, NFPLA 79)

  • Experience pulling and terminating wires

  • Experience using electrical test tools, hand tools, power tools, multimeters, measuring devices, bench equipment and shop machines

  • Experience repairing 3 phase power and controls and troubleshooting up to 480 volts

  • Experience using a computer for record-keeping and documentation functions

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Controls, Instrumentation, or Electrical Construction

  • Five (5)years of electrician experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Experience with Ethernet

  • Knowledge of HMI/SCADA systems, specifically GE iFIX and PanelView

  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs (Logix 5000) and VFDs (Powerflex 70 series)

  • Knowledge of HVAC systems
