The Finance & Accounting Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Billing Rate Analyst in the Washington, DC office. The Analyst is responsible for assisting the Senior Billing Rate Analyst with analyzing and determining billing rates for the Firm as well as ensuring the accuracy of the special rate tables.  Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist attorneys with rate specific projects and rate inquiries; assist in preparing client rate specific spreadsheets for client approvals; compare New Business Memo rate sections to Accounting System for accuracy and if inaccurate, contacts the attorney for verifications or correction prior to approving the new business memo; respond to requests for information, clarification and special analyses from billing attorneys and their clients and responsible for conversion of rates (USD, GBP and EUR), and input into Accounting System.

Qualifications: 

  • Four-year college degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • Prior billing experience in a law firm environment.
  • Prior billing analysis experience is a plus.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the Firm with tact and diplomacy.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness commensurate to handling confidential and sensitive material
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience working in databases.

  • Flexibility to work additional hours as needed.
