In this exciting role as a DRM (Design for Reliability and Manufacturability) Black Belt, you will have responsibility for functional excellence initiatives in the Operations function supporting New Product Introduction. The Structural Heart and Aortic (SH&A) Operating Unit is one of the fastest growing businesses and helps patients all over the globe.

You will work in close collaboration with the SH&A Operations organization to engage, empower and enable team members in applying Design for Reliability and Manufacturability practices in our organization. The majority of your time will be spent delivering and overseeing functional excellence projects, with emphasis on development project technical reviews, response actions, root cause analysis, and improvement projects. You will provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the organization and collaborate with other practitioners in Medtronic to support continuous improvement.

A Day in the Life:

You will be a part of a dynamic team that develops next-generation Aortic and Structural Heart therapies from concept through supplier selection, manufacturing process development, design transfer, and validations to support product launch.

Responsibilities include the following and other duties may be assigned:
Develops, implements and sustains process improvement initiatives utilizing Design for Reliability and Manufacturability / Design for Six Sigma methodologies to enable Predictable Product Development
Defines, designs and implements continuous improvement programs to ensure programs are integrated vertically and horizontally across the SH&A OU Operations organization
Defines improvement projects aligned with business strategies, with particular emphasis on functional excellence in supplier selection/development and manufacturing process development.
Analyzes improvement programs and potential results.
Facilitates and coaches teams, and instills practices through Project Technical Reviews, Improvement Efforts, and Root Cause Investigations
Establishes and maintains performance metrics to measure program success.
Installs process excellence support for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications and rewards.
Delivers and manages functional projects assigned and work with stakeholders to achieve desired results.
Facilitates teams to realize the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree with 7+ years of experience contributing/leading technical projects, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Formal Black Belt training and experience in applying principles to technical projects
  • 25% travel national/international

Nice to Haves:
  • Formal certification in DRM or DFSS BB program
  • Medical device industry; cardiovascular implant and/or catheter experience
  • High level proficiency of technical principles, theories, and design concepts in the field of medical device design
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience in application of statistical analysis tools
  • PMP Certification
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), Fluent in English
