Who we are looking for

The Business Risk Advisor function is part of the first line of defense risk management program. The position will be located in Boston. This role acts as a valued partner in the Portfolio Solutions Transition Management, Brokerage and Outsourced trading businesses in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of risk as well as the cultivation of a framework of practices that enables a balance of commercial considerations with the risk excellence objectives established by business leadership. Candidates should be experienced in risk management and governance practices within the Financial Services industry. Relevant business experience is ideally in Global Markets or Financial Services industry. The relevant non-financial risk management experience includes operational risk, conduct risk and regulatory risk. The candidate should have experience of designing key controls, conducting risk assessment, reviewing issue and incident write-ups and supporting the business through internal and external audits and regulatory exams.

What you will be responsible for

As a Portfolio Services Business Risk Advisor you will:

Monitor Operational incidents and ensure ICAMS is updated accordingly.

Work with the business teams as well as second and third lines to establish and maintain a complete control inventory, assess control effectiveness, document self-identified issues, remediate operational incidents, and ensure compliance with regulations and corporate policies and standards

Work with global colleagues to facilitate the annual Integrated Non-Financial Risk Assessment workshops in order to assess Inherent & Residual Risk levels taking into account the Design and Operational effectiveness of key controls.

Advise the business when raising self-disclosed risk issues in Archer to ensure clear articulation of the risk to the business and documentation of Action Plans to mitigate the risks which should be delivered within the agreed timeframe.

Support the business during Internal Audits, Compliance Reviews and Assurance tests by assessing potential issues and documenting Action Plans that mitigate the risks and should be delivered within the agreed timeframe. Monitor CATS items and Archer issues and ensure closure of these issues in a timely manner with supporting evidence.

Work with SSGM COO to ensure large change projects and New Business proposals consider the risk lens (e.g. controls, risk indicators, policy requirements).

Facilitate Operational incidents risk meeting, global business risk forum and collaborate with global teams as part of general business risk governance.

Ability to communicate thematically high as well as at a detailed level when required.

Experience of non-financial risk frameworks including risk assessment, control design, documenting issues and incidents and facilitating risk forums.

Ability to drive results by working effectively within the organization and influencing across all levels of the organization and to drive issues toward resolution.

Practical understanding of trading businesses, local markets, regulations, operations and associated credit, liquidity, financing, and clearing knowledge

Keen awareness and appreciation for teamwork and collaboration

Attention to detail and a propensity to drive issues toward resolution.

.3-5 years of experience in risk, compliance, and/or audit functions within the financial services industry

Education & Preferred Qualifications

A minimum qualification of a Bachelors Degree
