Position Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Serves as an expert to deliver the customer business solutions in the digital business domain. The Business Solutions Manager is a user-level representative and the primary liaison between business users and project teams for their business process and/or technology/system (e.g. business tool or system). The Business Solutions Manager will have an in-depth knowledge of systems, processes and procedures for the work solution they represent and identify needed evolution of current and creation of new processes. They will understand how end-users actually accomplish their work, their challenges and their current workarounds. The Business Solutions Manager will engage appropriate stakeholders (e.g. user groups) as necessary in the performance of their responsibilities. For example, business process and product changes may have cross-functional impact that require coordination with stakeholders from multiple departments. Serve as the expert articulating business need, and identify, create and support the systems, processes and procedures within a domain of responsibility. Create roadmaps for incremental value achievement in alignment to business vision and goals. Serve as the primary liaison representing the business goal or user to engaged project teams during system and process development. Lead change management activities to assure successful user transition and maximize derived value.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

 

Solution Design

Serve as the expert regarding a business need, and identify, create and support the systems, processes and procedures within a domain of responsibility. Coordinate amongst other business solutions managers to ensure consistency in user experience, a strong business delivery to our customer, and a clear understanding of the data life cycle across solutions.

  • Design and evolve the business process to create business effectiveness
  • Create and maintain documentation describing processes and reasoning behind key business decisions.
  • Actively monitor the effectiveness of systems and processes and appropriately adapt processes and supporting tools.
  • Considers how to ensure data quality within the solution to maximize accurate and consistent delivery and appropriate process control measurement.
  • Provide input and analysis for new requests to be prioritized.
  • Solicit, review, evaluate, approve and prioritize requests related to the business system or process.
  • Work with the AssociationsÂ’ cross functional team to obtain appropriate approvals outside of the functional teams (i.e. Credit Committee, Asset/Liability Committee, Risk Team, Prioritization Team)
  • Facilitate stakeholder groups to gain feedback on the value of requests.

 

Solution Roadmap

Create roadmaps for incremental value achievement in alignment to business vision and goals. Create an aggregate roadmap for all business solutions within domain. Ensure alignment of each business solution to the aggregate solution roadmap for the business domain.

  • Ensure articulation of new and changing business needs and forecast business value to be created.
  • Within larger business goals, develop meaningful minimal viable product sets.
  • Communicate key decisions and maintain agreement on plans with sponsorship.
  • Coordinate with appropriate teams for business case development and prioritization.
  • Communicate decisions and reasoning for choices with users and stakeholders.

 

System Development

Serve as the primary liaison representing the business goal or user to engaged project teams. Provide guidance and mentoring to other Business Solutions Managers within domain to help ensure a high quality consistent business solution. Creates awareness of system and process dependencies and facilitates resolution across business solutions when necessary.

  • Communicate a compelling vision to project team members.
  • Collaborate with project teams to write user stories
  • Describe ways features will be used and aid in identifying key risks
  • Perform acceptance testing for features in alignment with an agreed upon testing strategy.
  • Assist in identifying test scenarios and expected outcomes.
  • Embed with project teams for rapid feedback and adaptive decision-making.
  • Participate in agile project activities
  • Prioritize user stories, including removing stories that does not apply to the current increment of value.
  • Ensures appropriate end-to-end scenario testing is completed to ensure quality management of appropriate system and process dependencies
  • Request and sign-off on releases of valuable increments of feature development.

 

Change Management and User Support

Lead change management activities to assure successful user transition and maximize derived value.

  • Identify needed change management and user training. May partner with Organizational Learning and Development for larger or more complex change management needs
  • Serve as a resource to chosen change management and training resources. May prepare training material and conduct training.
  • Communicate releases and value.
  • Measure and monitor the effects of releases.
  • Monitor user adoption, and adapt tactics as needed to maximize derived value.
  • Ensure successful ongoing user support through process and procedure documentation and working with others to resolve user issues within the solution.

Carry out above functions for a domain of business solutions. Assure consistency in approach to business processes and procedures across the domain. Responsible for business solutions that have two or more of the following:

  • Responsible for the oversight of several different business solutions with significant dependencies (data integration and/or process) across solutions
  • Have two or more other Business Solution Managers of independent business solutions working with them on a routine basis to design, develop, implement, and support the solutions
  • Solutions have an enterprise-wide focus working across business units or encompass a large segment of the AssociationsÂ’ portfolio and/or income stream.
  • Solutions offered to other third parties as a paid service.

Additional functions of the position may include:

  1. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or a related technical expertise. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 6 or more years experience in product development, researching, analyzing and developing enterprise wide solutions including technology systems with an emphasis in customer facing digital solutions. Solid understanding of the agriculture industry preferred. Duties for all levels require:

  • Solid ability to contribute business knowledge to design, develop, implement, support and enhance multiple loan accounting technology systems with minimal coaching.

  • Ability to independently handle projects, including even the most complex challenges with limited guidance from team leader.
  • Ability to lead effectively through change and identify and eliminate barriers to change.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain and adhere to appropriate procedures and controls.
  • Ability to exercise leadership and judgment and to develop solutions to complex issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and effectively demonstrate team building attitude and skills.
  • Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
  • Ability to obtain working knowledge of regulations affecting the Associations (i.e. FCA, RECD, FSA and Consumer regulations).
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
  • Broad knowledge of retail lending delivery model and the interrelationship with other pertinent Omaha teams and processes.

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CONTACTS:

In addition to Customer Solutions leadership and teammates there will be extensive contact with FCSAmerica Information Technology, Business Applications Team, Legal, Risk/Compliance and Finance. External contacts may include Farm Credit business partners and producers/customers.

  • Ability to operate the telephone and respond to calls and in-person inquiries.
  • Ability to move about the office with occasional reaching and bending.
  • Ability to successfully interact with and represent the organization to staff, officers, board members, customers, industry specialists, and the public at all levels.
  • Ability to use a keyboard/calculator/computer. This involves reading the screen and keying/typing information.
  • Ability to use and understand various computer software related to carrying out essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to travel by auto or commercial transportation (up to 10%) to carry out essential responsibilities.
