Our information technology team is transforming and we're looking for high performing individuals to be a part of our transformation efforts. KS&T's core capability focuses on real-time commodity trading activity. KS&T helps to facilitate the sourcing, transportation, processing and use of raw materials around the world that are essential ingredients in consumer, household and industrial products used every day. Information is an asset at KS&T, and IT systems and applications are key elements to our business success. This is a technical position that will play the role of an operational business analyst supporting KS&T's some of those key business applications.

The candidate will provide business users with support for several Koch Supply & Trading applications and will be responsible for in depth ownership and "subject matter expert" competency of one or more enterprise applications. This candidate will be responsible for applying knowledge of the commodity trading business and accounting business roles in the organization in order to analyze and resolve issues and execute projects. The candidate will work with application users to ensure that applications and processes are being utilized as effectively as possible. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for working with the business end users to optimize their work environment from both a business process and system development standpoint. The business analyst will have opportunities to drive minor enhancements to applicable systems; developing business/functional requirements, coding, testing, and release management. Therefore, the ability to work collaboratively and communicate to project and business team members throughout the process is needed. To be successful, the candidate must be a self-starter and independent thinker with an ability to handle multi-tasks simultaneously. Communicating and collaborating in an effective and respectful manner is required.

A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

  • Understanding business function: concepts, practices, and procedures, including key business processes, drivers, and their measures of success

  • Interpretation, analyzing, and resolution of system and application issues

  • Resolving data related issues by understanding and analyzing data in relational databases

  • Managing expectations and communicating effectively with customers

  • Mentoring and assisting end users with system and application usage

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems and user needs, and acts as the liaison between the business and IT

  • Soliciting, documenting, and validating requirements and specifications

  • Managing and maintaining existing source code in git repository while making tweaks to implement change requests and enhancements

  • Facilitating the development of user acceptance test plans and scenarios, and coordinates user acceptance testing

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement and automation of business processes and formulates systems that align with business objectives

  • Providing feedback to customers regarding end user training and proper product/system usage

What You Will Need:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in business related field (accounting, finance, computer information systems)

  • 3+ years of experience with Microsoft .NET, C#, SQL Server, Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code or source control (git)

  • 1+ years of experience building web services (XML, JSON)

  • Strong background in writing and debugging SQL stored procedures and complex queries

  • Experience with either application support or application life cycle management with direct interaction with customers

  • Experience managing or participating on a project using a disciplined project methodology

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience of SDLC and Agile principles of maintaining product backlogs to include epics, features, stories, and acceptance criteria

  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development

  • Analytical and statistical skills with experience applying them to client-facing systems issues and conveying them effectively to application developers

  • Experience overseeing the design, development, and implementation of software solutions, systems, or products

  • Demonstration of critical thinking and analytical/problem solving skills

  • Ability to liaise with software vendors on system support related issues

  • Experience and understanding of commodity markets and complex trade types / valuation

  • Some practical knowledge and understanding of trade management systems / risk management systems or understanding of financial and capital markets
