Provides advanced support for computers, software and related technology used at multiple campuses/locations. Leads district-wide software upgrades, hardware distribution, technology replacement and asset management. Works collaboratively with Innovation and Instructional Technology department to implement hardware, software and services based on instructional needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  1. Install and provide advanced troubleshooting for PC, cabling, network, telephony, printers, Wi-Fi, peripherals and audio visual/classroom/lab technology and applications;

  2. Provide timely end user support based on incoming tickets, phone calls or e-mails;

  3. May assign work orders and troubleshoot tickets to technicians;

  4. Provide escalated support for high priority requests or complex technical problems;

  5. Help to maintain a current inventory of equipment for assigned area(s);

  6. Guide evaluation and testing of new campus hardware and software;

  7. Provide event support at HCC offices;

  8. Promote security awareness to customers through actions and advocacy;

  9. Develop and maintain good working relationships with all customers and IT;

  10. Set up and maintain computer-training classrooms;

  11. Evaluate and recommend purchase of appropriate hardware and software; and

  12. May be required travel to multiple locations.

Associates degree or certification in Computer Science or a related field required. Four (4) years recent experience in hardware/software technical support may be considered in lieu of degree.

A+ Certification or ability to obtain certification in one year required.


Three (3) years of PC hardware/software installation and software troubleshooting required.

Experience in desktop, servers and data communications equipment required.

Experience with PeopleSoft strongly preferred.

Experience leading projects preferred.


  1. Knowledge of Mac OS, iOS, Windows and Microsoft Office Suite;

  2. Knowledge of server and workstation hardware and software;

  3. General understanding of LAN/WAN operations;

  4. Able to effectively communicate technical information to users of all skill levels;

  5. Demonstrated advanced competencies in PC hardware/software installation and troubleshooting;

  6. Must be able to lift 50 pounds;

  7. Must have reliable transportation to occasionally travel to other HCC locations; and

  8. Subject to working nights, week-ends and holidays.
The compensation range for this position is $41,911 - $55,638 annually.
