Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver savings through facilitation of regional and global strategic sourcing initiatives, implementation and maintenance of contracts/programs, and through innovative approaches to Logistics Management to achieve cost reduction targets.

  • Development and enforcement of fleet policies and procedures.

  • Direct day to day administration/operations of the fleet program including the oversight and management of the third party Fleet Management Company (FMC).

  • Lead fleet related initiatives based on the business needs, analyze data to discern patterns, discrepancies, and opportunities for process improvements and cost management initiatives.

  • Oversee performance of third party material handling services.

  • When required, verify and ensure all import/export documentation is accurate according to the Country specific laws.

  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, environmental, safety, and hazardous regulations.

  • Responsible for ensuring on-time delivery of merchandise, supplies and equipment.

  • Prepares reports and updates databases in order to measure Metrics, such as, Delivery Performance, Service Levels, and Shipping Costs, and to maintain visibility of Logistics status. Identifies and reports/distributes trends and fleet statistics.

  • Conducts supplier reviews and manages supplier performance, compliance to contracts and KPIs/SLAs, and issue resolution.

  • Negotiates and manages all master supply agreements for the category.

  • Organizes and maintains documentation supporting contractual obligations for all shippers.

  • Designs and documents SOP (standard operating procedures) for Fleet and Logistics processes.

  • Approves and maintains all vehicle specifications and cost management programs.

  • Multitasks with a main focus on customer service and customer satisfaction

  • Participates in the identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities to deliver internal and supplier efficiencies.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.

  • Actively monitors the market for intelligence and business trends and benchmarks against best practices.

  • Supervises personnel, and gives and receives work direction.


Education: Bachelors degree from an accredited university/college in Logistics, Fleet, Freight Forwarding or a closely related field.

Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of related commercial experience with demonstrated knowledge of strategic sourcing, category management, logistics and/or fleet management, procedures and processes. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Familiarity with international logistics, import/export compliance, and Incoterms.

Other Required Skills, Knowledge or Abilities: PC proficiency with MS Office applications and advanced knowledge of Excel for research and spreadsheet analysis. Experience with Requisition / Procurement systems (AS400 based applications a plus).

Specialist knowledge of at least one area of transport and logistics.

Experience in supply chain, supplier KPIs, and awareness of industry cost drivers, Logistics, Transport, Fleet and Freight Forwarding.

Demonstrates proficiency in thinking creatively, problem identification & resolution and project planning & implementation in a high volume environment.

Demonstrates ability to work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective cost reduction programs, reduced inventories and cycle time.

Demonstrates strong negotiation skills and strategic, high-level supplier relationships that result in attaining preferred status and terms.

Interpersonal Communications: Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate with good written, verbal, presentation and listening skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment. Establishes relationships with local and other site groups.

Frequent contacts outside department and outside company that may involve negotiation to resolve problems or gain consensus. Demonstrates effective use of communication process across functional and managerial boundaries.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

Spends most of the time in an office environment. Minimal travel for training and supplier contact as required.
