Cement Operator

Purpose: Performs various production operations to current performance standards.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Load ingredients into mixer. (i.e. chemicals, rubber, etc.)

Performs and completes inspections as required.

Operates machines to fill containers with cement.

Operates guillotine machine to slit rubber.

Operates various other machines including mill.

Set-up and change over machines as required.

Completes necessary forms and paperwork.

Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.

Monitor quality of materials throughout the manufacturing process.

Use and maintain digital scales.

Hand label cans and packaging.

Must be able to handle and move heavy and awkward objects, i.e. 55-gallon drums.

Ability to interact reasonably and in a cooperative manner with co-workers and customers.

Keep area clean and free from safety hazards.

Drive a forklift as necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Supervision:

Recieved: General. Works independently with little supervision.

Given: None

Education/Experience:

High school graduation or equivalent combination of education and a minimum of one year work experience preferable with chemicals or a manufacturing environment.

Communication Skills:

Able to communicate verbally and in writing as to work requirements, work in progress, and/or work completion. Communicates verbally and/or in writing with other workers, members of supervision, and others as necessary.

Mathmatical Ability:

Ability to use math to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Requires good knowledge of shop math.

Reasoning Ability:

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. Must have continuous visual and mental attention during the operation of equipment and/or machines.

Licenses/Certifications:

Forklift certification

Hazmat training

Physical Demands:

Requiredover 2/3of time spent during shift:

Standing

Using hands to finger, handle or feel

Reach with hands and arms

Talk or hear

Lift up to 10, 25, & 50 pounds

Required 1/3 to 2/3of time spent during shift:

Walking

Climb or balance

Required under 1/3of time spent during shift:

Sitting

Taste or smell

Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl

Lift up to 100 pounds

Lift more than 100 pounds with help

Other Requirements:

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

Distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more)

Color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors)

Peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and

right while eyes are fixed on a given point)

Depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships)

Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)

Hand-eye coordination

Work Environment:

Exposure to conditions over 2/3of time during shift:

Work near moving mechanical parts

Fumes or airborne particles

Exposure to conditions under 1/3 of time during shift:

Work in high, precarious places

Exposure to conditions no time during shift:

Wet or humid conditions (non-weather)

Noise level: Loud

Additional Information:

Generally responsible for the safety of own work area. Carts available for transportation of material. Steel toed shoes and safety glasses required. Earplugs required for some fuctions of this position. Ability to handle and move awkward objects, i.e. 55-gallon drums.
