Leads, directs and has leadership accountability for a staff of Claims Professionals. This includes ensuring that there are performance objectives and performance metrics in place to both support and meet department goals.

Analyze claim forms, policies and endorsements, client instructions and other records to determine whether the loss falls within the policy coverage in order to approve coverage position letters.

Responsible for technical claims supervision of files in accordance with Best Practices.

Oversees the reserving and maintenance of cases that present exposure with immediate and appropriate elevation to management and business partners.

Ensures that the handlers are focused on providing proactive, professional and responsive communication with internal and external business partners.

Assures that appropriate and proactive direction to counsel is provided.

Improves the professional knowledge of the staff and seeks staff development.



Bachelors degree in business administration, insurance, or a related field and/or multiple industry designations required.

Law degree preferred, but not required.

Other relevant professional designation preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum 10 years Construction Defect claims experience, preferably with 5 years in a claims supervisory capacity managing claims professionals.


Strong leadership and management skills.

Must have a working understanding of the insurance industry and how it works, makes money and provides service to its customers.

Must have the ability to collaborate with other business partners and customers in an effective manner.

Professional written and verbal communication skills. The ability to read and write English fluently is required.

The ability to execute projects and tasks in a timely, consistent and accurate manner.

Must be customer focused: have the soft skills to anticipate customer needs and respond to questions and complaints effectively, with empathy and responsively.
