**Job Description:**



Leads and/or participates in the design, development, and implementation of complex system engineering activities involving cross-functional technical support, systems programming and data center capabilities. Responsible for components of highly complex engineering and/or analytical tasks and activities. Establishes input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility, coordination of subsystems design, and integration of total system. Viewed as a technology subject matter expert; able to provide and communicate complex technology solutions across differing audiences including technical, managerial, business executives, and/or vendors. Will have responsibility for multiple, complex projects; will direct activities of teams related to special initiatives or operations and may have direct reports. Leads the resolution process for complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Information Technology degree and/or technology certifications preferred or substantial equivalent experience. Typically 7-10 years of IT experience.

LOB Job Description:



Bank of America/Merrill Lynch is seeking an Applied Engineering Automation Engineer with a wide breath of automation, middleware infrastructure, development knowledge and experience. You will be working on a variety of technologies with focus on Agile / Lean development processes, Continuous Delivery automation and Infrastructure design patterns.



As an Applied Engineering/Developer you will:



Design and implement operational Continuous Delivery best practices for deployment, configuration, monitoring, and ensuring the reliability and robustness of the platform as it scales in scope and usage



Advocate industry best practices for configuration management, build and deployment automation, and operational monitoring and analysis



Understand and champion Continuous Development and Agile practices for Software Development, Testing and Delivery thru middleware automation (IaaS, PaaS, SDI, CICD)



Work with project / initiative teams to insure proper design for high availability, failover, infrastructure / code certification, and customized monitoring



Develop and build internal automation tools and processes to support our development and production environments.



Act as L3 responder to triage and analyze abnormalities in a broad range of distributed software technologies



Participate in POCs to evaluate, document and set direction / strategy for future technologies and integrations



Work collaboratively with a geographically dispersed team



Required Skills:



6-10 years (2 yrs. web development)



Proficient in both RHEL and Windows Operating Systems



Strong knowledge and working experience as a developer and/or architect of web-based applications with Middleware containers (Apache, Weblogic, Websphere, IIS)



Working knowledge and prior experience with Continuous Delivery practices and automation tools



Strong knowledge and understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP networking, SSL, Firewall, Proxy, Load Balancing)



Programming and Scripting languages (Unix shell scripts, Windows Powershell, python, Java)



Desired Skills:



Technical Skills



Background in software development (2 years)



Background in SDLC Agile / Lean methodologies



Experience with developing automation solutions, particularly around Continuous Delivery and build-deploy-test workflows



Experience with developing and supporting PaaS and IaaS architectures



Middleware engineering skills with focus on Apache, Weblogic and/or IIS, Oracle DB and/or MS SQLServer



Development skills/tools: Java EE, .Net, Eclipse, Unix Shell Scripting, ANT, Jython/Python, GIT, Powershell



Web UI/UX design, development and implementation experience



Other Skills



Solid understanding of computer programming and software development



Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and perform complex system tests



Creative thinking skills



Be able to multitask



Excellent verbal and written communication skills targeting all levels of the organization



Proficiency at documenting processes and systems



Education/Experience



Minimum of a 4 year degree in computer science or equivalent experience



6-10 years infrastructure or software engineering / development experience



Candidate with Cloud integration experience is preferred
