Position Purpose & Summary

The Insights Manager will be responsible for synthesizing consumer and category insights that position Cargill as the partner of choice with our customers. She/he will collaborate closely with Category Management, Business Management, Marketing, R&D, Culinary and Sales to bring insight-based solutions to our customers. This position will have an emphasis on face to face customer interaction. This position will support Cargill'sProtein Group

Principal Accountabilities

40% Customer Engagement and Activation

  • Synthesize existing foundational research and conduct customer-specific research to help inform internal initiatives and show up as a thought leader with our priority customers. Partner with marketing and sales to weave consumer understanding into a compelling story.
  • Develop relationships with consumer insight peers at priority customers
  • Represent the voice of the customer at customer meetings
  • Critical team member in establishing Cargill Protein as the industry thought leader in the Protein Ingredient Space

25% Consumer-Led Innovation

  • Lead custom, primary research to develop insight-based ideas from idea generation through product development
  • Work with research partners to lead all phases of qualitative and quantitative research
  • Utilize business and research acumen to influence and lead cross-functional team through NPD process

25% Foundational Research and Brand Support

  • Lead custom, primary research to understand important topics to both Cargill and our priority customers. Examples could include understanding the consumer path to purchase, in-context research to understand first moment of truth, and product testing to understand opportunities for improvement
  • Conduct research to inform brand strategy and marketing decisions

10% Sharing/Alignment/Team-Building
  • Establish close relationships with Marketing, Sales, and R&D to establish foundation of trust
  • Meet with manager to ensure alignment on priority initiatives, budget, and career development

If the person is located in the Wayzata location there will be significant travel to Wichita ( 30-40%) first year to build relationships and then 20-30% going forward.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum 10 years experience in market research or consumer insights
  • Comfortable with both qualitative and quantitative research
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable presenting to high-level leadership at priority customers (Ex: Walmart)
  • Must be results oriented, innovative and creative
  • Must be curious have a desire to understand the why and dig into the data
  • Ability to connect the dots from varying sources and synthesize into a compelling story

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Marketing Research or related field or MBA
  • Experience in a shopper insights role that involved direct interaction with Sales
  • 5+ years experience in new product development
  • 5+ years experience at a consumer-packaged goods company
  • Experience in a business-to-business setting
