Vertiv, a global leader in network power solutions, seeks a Director / Regional Controller at its global HQ located in Columbus, OH. Reporting to the Americas CFO, the successful candidate will provide leadership in directing the regional accounting activities and functions, including the accounting close and consolidation process, internal and external reporting, establishing and maintaining accounting policies and procedures, managing new accounting pronouncements and regulations, accounting operations, GAAP compliance, and effectively managing significant interaction and communication with other corporate functions. They will also be heavily involved with creating a high integrity culture within the accounting function and leading process, controls, and other accounting standards compliance.

We are looking for an individual with a strong technical accounting background and is also a CPA with experience in accounting for products and services. The ideal candidate for this position will not only possess the technical skills, knowledge, and experience required but will also possess a positive attitude, confidence, the ability to function and lead a team in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, and above all, ownership of the financial statements that drives a passion for accuracy and understanding. This person must have exceptional resource management and prioritization skills and be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. The right candidate is hands-on, dependable, committed, results orientated, and can execute organizational goals with the utmost urgency and commitment.

  • Provide effective leadership over Regional Accounting to ensure all responsibilities are met

  • Foster communication and cooperation among all groups within Finance and Accounting, in and across regions

  • Communicate to executive management regarding all financial results and targets

  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance

  • Work closely with the Global Support (Corporate) accounting and tax departments to ensure consistent and accurate application of all accounting and regulatory standards within reported financial results

  • Ensure proper accounting and financial compliance of all relevant contracts.

  • Provide effective and meaningful analysis on all major fiscal areas of the organization

  • Manage the monthly/quarterly close process for the Americas regions to ensure timely and accurate financial results, and making clear the assignments of responsibilities within the close cycle

  • All aspects of technical accounting researching and resolving complex accounting issues and drafting accounting memos, including purchase accounting, revenue recognition, goodwill testing, etc.

  • Support the annual audit, be the main and primary contact for the auditors for the Americas audit efforts

  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls including but not limited to unifying of accounting processes globally and regionally

  • Any ad-hoc projects as assigned or needed


  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance; MAcc preferred

  • A mix of both large public accounting experience and large manufacturing with international operations

  • 7 10 years of relevant experience with a large global manufacturing organization

  • 5+ years experience supervising, training and mentoring staff

  • CPA required

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS

  • Strong systems background (Oracle, SAP, Hyperion); past systems implementation experience preferred

  • Experience working within a Sarbanes Oxley compliant company is a preferred

  • Need to possess a thorough knowledge of internal control practices and policies

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, dynamic environment

  • The ability to go fast and make others go faster

  • Strong organization and communication skills
