The Treasury Retail Investment Manager (TRIM) Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis has a unique opportunity for a Data engineer to work on a highly visible, multi-year project.

In this role, you will learn our application design as well as our coding patterns and practices, interpret acceptance criteria, and contribute to our application, working both independently and, in an Enterprise, Agile and DevOps team environment. The team is comprised of multiple Agile development teams, as well as program staff.

This position is a fully remote position. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident alien with at least three years of legal residency.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, Implement and Maintain data pipelines in our architecture.

  • Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using various SQL and big data technologies.

  • A commitment to quality code and experience writing unit and integration tests.

  • Design, create and maintain code and jobs for ETL processes (views, stored procedures, SSIS, etc..)

  • Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into key business performance metrics.

  • Identify, design and implement internal process improvements, automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.

  • Implement and monitor data quality indicators across the entire data pipeline.

  • Be proactive in quality control such as monitoring and fixing data quality issues.

  • Work cross-functionally with business partners and Data team to define requirements and strategy to implement appropriate reporting and analytics solutions using an agile development approach.

  • Execute data discovery, analysis, and visualization to deliver insights needed by the business.

  • Provide data that is accurate, congruent and reliable that is easily accessible by establishing and enforcing data quality and data management principles including standards, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Support the existing processes and products running in production.

  • Mentor and train more junior Data Engineers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor`s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Scientific/Quantitative or other degree related field or equivalent work experience in IT/Data/Scientific Quant related field and 10 or more years of experience.

  • AWS experience preferred, including DynamoDB and Redshift.

  • Experience in SQL, data analysis, data modeling, Tableau, MS Power BI, Hadoop, SQL Server, SSRS, OBIEE, or similar skillset.

  • Experience in modeling and prepping the data in SQL or related tools for building data visualizations.

  • Experience in building algorithms for data mining, machine learning, and/or natural language processing.

  • Experience in transforming, combining, and moving data between on-prem and cloud-based systems.

  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

  • Analytical thinker, problem-solver, and the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
