Main purpose of the Role:
  • The Data Privacy Department is responsible for implementing a framework to facilitate adherence with the data privacy regulations and best practice standards.
  • Ensure the effective management of the Data Privacy Department.
  • Understand and advise on the data protection regulatory risks and obligations faced by both the regulated and unregulated firms within the group structure; ensuring senior management and other stakeholders understand those risks and can make informed decisions.
  • The role sits within the Data Privacy Department in the second line of defence and is based in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To monitor regulatory developments in respect of data protection regulations and to provide guidance and advice on regulatory matters including the development of policies and procedures and investigation of regulatory concerns;
  • Promote an enterprise-wide data protection/risk management culture, ensuring all business areas understand and take ownership for managing such risks;
  • Responsible for compliance with data protection laws and must be able to demonstrate compliance:
  • Assisting with drafting and embedding of data protection internal processes, procedures and regulatory requirements within the organisation;
  • Liaise with relevant stakeholders such as Compliance, Information Security, HR, Operational Risk, Audit, Client Due Diligence and Data Privacy Champions in relation to data protection regulatory matters;
  • Assist the Head of Privacy and Data Protection maintain a relationship with regulators and other supervisory bodies including regulatory requests in respect of data protection;
  • Review and update Policies and Procedures relevant to data protection;
  • Alignment with core organisational structure processes;
  • Carry out DPIAs
  • Provide bespoke Data Protection Training as required on all privacy matters
  • Provide advice and guidance on Cross border transfers
  • Provide advice on Marketing strategies, cookies and website content.

Skills / Competencies required:

Key skills and experience include:


  • At least 3-5 years hands-on experience on Data Protection & Privacy;
  • Understanding of UK and European/Global Data Privacy legal regulations and the ability to apply this knowledge in a commercial environment;
  • Must have been working on a GDPR project in their current role;
  • Ability to work independently, with corresponding time management skills; and
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines when required.

  • Hold a relevant ISEB/BCS or IAPP qualification;
  • Experience in Data Protection and GDPR, compliance, technology, and data governance;
  • Strong influencing ability and able to build and maintain strong relationships with Compliance, InfoSec, Legal, IT, HR, and senior management; and
  • Experience of working within a multi-entity global organisation.

Systems used:

  • Microsoft Office suite of applications, with focus on Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel.

  • Strong written and verbal communication & presentation skills essential.
