What youll do on a typical day:

  • Lead the collections department in a constantly evolving and increasingly complex business environment

  • Develop and implement standardized policies and practices; drive continuous improvement across all Order to Cash (OTC) activities

  • Establish, measure and report on key performance metrics that will cascade from business deliverables to individual performance

  • Conduct strategic account reviews of customers and help mitigate collections challenges

  • Adopt and implement collection strategies aligned with various customer types, including strategic accounts, mid-tier and small accounts

  • Ensure the collections team meets customer contact and collection call volumes standards

  • Drive performance metrics, such as days sales outstanding (DSO), bad debt percentage and weekly cash receipts

  • Work closely with credit and cash application managers and directors to influence and execute the OTC strategy

  • Provide leadership and program management over our critical effort to bring the accounts receivable aging profile into best-in-class

  • Drive strategic improvements in cash flow and DSO by identifying and managing cross-functional initiatives that eliminate issues and optimize efficiency

  • Partner closely with senior sales and finance leadership and establish a regular reporting cadence to ensure teams are aware of significant customer or process matters and the path/requirements for expedient resolution

  • Identify, sponsor and manage advancements to all collection systems and tools to support operational effectiveness, improve customer experience and remain at the forefront of technology in the collections space

  • Partner with sales management and customers to understand and work through challenges; drive a culture of performance while increasing engagement

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, youll need:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting, or 10 years of related experience in lieu of degree

  • 7 years of management experience

  • Demonstrated experience handling a large volume (high volume/low value) of transactions

  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal and collaboration skills with the proven ability to effectively supervise, mentor and influence employees

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel (pivots and v-lookup)

Itd be great if you also have:

  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field

  • Experience in the Less-than-Truckload (LTL) or logistics industry

  • Ability to develop insightful, beneficial and actionable analyses with detailed explanations regarding drivers of those results; able to produce unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretations

  • Innovative, decisive, results-oriented and strategic in thinking and approach
