The Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank (KC Fed) has an exciting opportunity to oversee diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within our organization. The KC Fed is located in Kansas City, Missouri, and has branch offices in Denver, Oklahoma City, and Omaha, representing the Tenth District seven-state region. Your role as the DEI Manager will provide the opportunity to build a culture of high performance and execute on numerous meaningful and impactful initiatives.

Immediate priorities include providing leadership and coordination to the evolution of the Banks DEI employee groups, which were recently expanded in size and scope. In addition, the DEI Manager will quickly align with internal stakeholders (e.g., Human Resource, Procurement, etc.) to advance practices related to recruitment, training, partnerships, and engagement. To be successful, the candidate must develop strong partnerships throughout various Bank departments, as well as across the Federal Reserve System. Focus will also be placed on maintaining strategic partnerships with external stakeholders. In addition, this leader should have a demonstrated track record of exemplifying strong leadership, team building, and communication skills.

Reporting to an Assistant Vice President within the Community Engagement & Inclusion (CEI) Division, the DEI Manager will join a broader Division management team that gives focus to the following functions: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion; Community Development; Community Engagement; and Stakeholder Engagement.

Key Activities:

  • Provides leadership for staff within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

  • Assists with the development and execution of the Banks DEI strategic plan.

  • Provides leadership and coordination to the Banks DEI employee groups, programs, and communications.

  • Applies in depth and broad knowledge of DEI expertise to address complex issues and opportunities.

  • Partners with the appropriate Bank departments and System colleagues to ensure priorities, goals, and objectives are met.

  • Other projects as assigned including ad-hoc assignments.

Desired Skills:

  • Ability to influence and navigate through complex problems and situations.

  • Experience with developing, leading, and presenting at events and programs.

  • Creative and innovative thinking to meet Bank and Division strategies. Understanding and appreciation of the Federal Reserve System structure.

  • Proven track record of exemplifying strong leadership skills and alignment with the Banks leadership competencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience.

  • Typically requires six years of related professional work experience, which includes either relevant Bank leadership experience, or equivalent relevant leadership experience in another organization.

  • Strong and broad knowledge of DEI principles and practices, including experience with employee groups and DEI programming.

  • Strong initiative to deliver high quality and impactful results.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate in an articulate manner to a wide range of audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead inclusively.

  • Incumbent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless the Bank grants an accommodation based on a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief.
