Garmin Aviation seeking an EMC/EMIEngineeringTechnician to create integrated avionics systems to simulate aircraft installation, to perform EMC testing and monitor and document system performance.

The EMC team is responsible for making sure that the avionics in aircraft are not interfered with when flying by RF transmitters, or when the aircraft is struck by lightning.

As anEMC/EMI Engineering Technicianyou will create CAD drawings of harnesses using Visio, write technical reports including block diagrams, and test setup schematics to fully document test results and analysis.
Other essential functions include:

  • Perform EMC (RF Susceptibility, Emissions and Lightning) testing and monitor system performance

  • Work with high RF levels during HIRF testing and high voltage/current levels during lightning testing

  • Use common lab test equipment in testing and troubleshooting test failures, including equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer, and logic analyzers

  • Familiarity with RF test equipment

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication to collaborate with a diverse group of engineers

  • Good analytical and organizational skills

  • Maintain project files and notebooks in an organized manner

  • Be flexible to work different projects, including non EMC projects

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Visio and/or AutoCAD

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

  • Driven problem solver with proven success in solving difficult problems

  • Capable of accommodating some domestic travel

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or Computer Engineering Technology from a technical/vocational institution or a four-year college or university,ora minimum of three years experience performing a role substantially similar to the essential functions of this job description

  • Familiarity with DO160 test methods, especially Section 20 and 22 test methods and Aircraft systems knowledge, is highly preferred!
