DESCRIPTION

As part of our USACE engineering team, the Civil Engineer collaborates on and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame. This position requires the ability to design and assist with RFP packages for the USACE border patrol projects. The Civil Engineer will assist on cost proposals for government contracts, coordinate on scopes of work. The Civil Engineer will:

  • Handle sensitive issues with public and/or client engineers' representatives.
  • Apply principles of sound design and construction practices.
  • Prepare plan correction reports.
  • Use computer software to develop engineering and mathematical analysis for a wide variety of design problems.
  • Assist with reviewing proposed projects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and check engineering designs, details, estimates, plans, and specifications.
  • Apply modern engineering techniques to solve a variety of engineering problems.
  • Prepare technical correspondence and engineering reports relating to assigned building and construction projects.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
  • Assist with development of project plans/methodologies for large and complex projects.
  • Assist with preparing project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Assist with preparing contract proposals.
  • Coordinates project activities with activities of government regulatory or other governmental agencies.
  • Travel of up-to 25% required.
  • Treat all employees, representatives of outside agencies and members of the public with courtesy and respect.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of individuals representing diverse cultures and backgrounds and function calmly in situations which require a high degree of sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, Master's Degree can be substituted for 1-2 years of experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license within the State of Texas
  • 2-7 plus years of related experience (USACE experience is a plus)
  • Understand Standard USFG specifications.
  • MicroStation and AutoCAD experience.
