Your responsibilities

This role will provide expert judgment in design to develop, implement and analyze electrical components of the elevator systems including but not limited to control systems and embedded hardware. The position focuses on highly complex technical issues and advanced research to address potential innovation areas for applications to elevator systems.

  • Designs electrical components applicable to elevator systems.
  • Relies on experience and judgment to make sound engineering and design decisions.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
  • Utilizes a wide degree of creativity and latitude in performing the essential functions of the role.
  • Adheres to all safety procedures and company safety standards while working in the lab and test tower.
  • Adheres to the corporate compliance policy and ensures that behavior in the workplace is that of a responsible professional.
  • Contributes in a team environment.
  • Mentor, train, and lead the work of Engineering Interns, Engineer I, and external engineering groups and academic research team.
  • Excited about working in a research and innovation center in a small, agile team.
  • Feels comfortable working with loosely-defined requirements and/or ambiguous situations.
  • Understands that failure is expected and is not afraid to fail fast and fail often, but learns from failures and reports out on future improvements to the design or system.

Your profile

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Graduate level degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent professional knowledge preferred.
Experience Requirements
  • 3+ years experience in electrical engineering with a focus in embedded electronics design and testing in an innovative product development requirement required.
  • Experience with digital signal processing and embedded sensors is required.
  • Experience with programming using C or C++ is required.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python, XCode, Java, JavaScript, etc. is required.
  • Practical, hand-on experience working with circuit board design and assembly and mechatronics systems assembly.
  • Mechanical and spatial orientation skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and directing the work of others.
  • Possess effective verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience benchtop electronic test equipment.
  • Possess the ability to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the functions of the job.

  • Physical demands of this position require walking and/or standing approximately 40% of the time.
  • Requires sitting approximately 60% of the time.
  • Requires manual dexterity use of hands, arms, and feet for repetitive lifting as well as use of required equipment and computer.
  • Requires audible/visual abilities.
  • Requires less than 10% travel time. (domestic and foreign)
