Arcadis is searching for an entry-level Mechanical Engineer with an interest in designing HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and/or other mechanical systems for water / wastewater facilities, oil / gas facilities, and other industrial facilities to join our world-class firm in White Plains, NY.

The primary focus of this role will be to provide technical and design consulting services with a focus on HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and/or other mechanical system design to support projects. This is a unique opportunty for you to join Arcadis and support teams across all three of our business lines. In this position you will contribute to a variety of projects utilizing your technical knowledge and education. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Work centered on the mechanical design and coordination of various projects involving industrial, municipal, and commercial market projects with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment plant related buildings, industrial facilities, and associated ancillary mechanical support systems, as well as the analysis of existing facilities.
  • Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, system sizing, equipment selection, developing detailed drawing designs for full documentation of the design, and writing associated material and product specifications required for a complete design package.
  • Performing computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) work that requires a basic knowledge of CADD using AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Microstation specifically with civil and mechanical Engineering Design and Construction projects.
  • Gradually increased involvement with cost estimating, code review, field investigation, report writing, technical memorandum writing, and other similar mechanical engineering related tasks.
  • Providing engineering services during project construction phase, including reviewing contractor equipment submittals, shop drawings, and responding to contractor requests for information.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have

  • strong technical writing ability
  • a strong educational background
  • basic understanding/ proficiency with AutoCAD (both 2D and 3D)
  • functional experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project and Outlook)
  • the ability to work productively and cooperatively in a team environment.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field of study.
  • EIT or ability to obtain within 1 year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Revit Experience
  • H eating and cooling load calculation software experience
  • College HVAC course work.
