Summary :

In this role you will be r esponsible for a variety of field and office support roles under the direction of more experienced personnel. Primary responsibility will Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) oversight of various environmental construction projects. Position requires direction from Senior technician, Field Manager, Engineer, or Project Manager. Perform tasks with input and guidance from more experienced personnel. Work under supervision from others. Primary contact is with internal project teams.

Your Role: Essential Duties

  • Assist with specific office, testing, or field assignments under the direction of senior technicians, field managers, engineers, or project managers.
  • Assist with the planning and preparation for various work assignments, maintain field and test equipment, document data in an orderly fashion and perform field monitoring and analyses in accordance with established protocols.
  • Perform field work including but not limited to recording field measurements, maintaining field activities log, collecting and documenting material samples.
  • Operate field test equipment including nuclear density/moisture gauge and GPS survey equipment.
  • Work at landfills, hazardous waste sites, contaminated sites, and/or other environmental construction sites where heavy equipment, contamination, or other health hazards may exist.
  • Observation and documentation of contractor's work for conformance with plans and specifications.
  • Communicate daily with clients, contractors, and Project Manager.
  • Compilation of daily reports and entry of field data for construction documentation reports
  • Assist with technical research as required.
  • Assist with construction services as required.
  • Perform other assignments as requested by management.
  • Implement safe work practices on field assignments.
  • Other duties as needed.
  • 90% field work, 10% office, extended travel required.

High school diploma required. Associates degree in related field preferred. Typically 1-3 years' experience in environmental services or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Mechanical and technical aptitude and understanding of field equipment. Experience with operation of GPS survey equipment and/or nuclear density/moisture gauge a plus. Intermediate knowledge and proficiency in use of Microsoft Office and other software as necessary to perform job functions. Experience level in this position may vary by individual based on skill levels and performance.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or on a team.

Work will be conducted both in an outdoor field environment and on occasion in the office. Outdoor work will involve potential for exposure to various physical and chemical hazards of varying degree and type. This will include work under heat and cold stress and other adverse environmental conditions.

*While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit. *The employee will be subject to physical exertion and must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

*The employee may work in the field for extended periods and may require extended travel away from home. The employee must be able to work in personal protective equipment including respirator, and must have physical clearance for PPE. *Ability to drive and operate a vehicle. An annual medical exam may be necessary based on the work assignment.

Due to the nature of the position, individual will be required to successfully complete the following:

  • A background investigation. Please note that this investigation requires your consent and cooperation.
  • You will be required to drive on a regular basis for Company business you must maintain a safe driving record as defined by Tetra Tech's Vehicle Safety program. Successful evaluation of a motor vehicle (MVR) check is required.
  • You will be required to successfully pass a uranalysis drug screen. Tetra Tech Solid Waste East is a zero-tolerance drug and alcohol business as such you will be subject to quarterly random drug screens where allowable by law.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER training as required by company policy and job duties.
  • Comprehensive Medical Examination.
