The Division of Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement is recruiting for the new position of Executive Director, International Advancement. This position is tasked with increasing engagement of international alumni, University Center for International Studies (UCIS) alumni and other constituents. The incumbent will be responsible for increasing fundraising results from international alumni and constituents and focusing those efforts toward the highest priorities. The Executive Director will be able to leverage international activity across both Pitt and UPMC for engagement and fundraising objectives.

Organization/Environment This position will report to both Sr. Vice Chancellor, Philanthropic & Alumni Engagement and the Vice President, Global Affairs/Director of UCIS, and work closely with colleagues within and beyond PAE.

These colleagues will include individuals from the following: UCIS Innovation Institute Deans and individual school leadership as designated by the deans Office of the Chancellor Office of the Provost UPMC (particularly, UPMC International) Individual Giving units Directors of Development for select schools (Katz/CBA, SSOE, Education, Medicine, etc.) Alumni Relations Communications, donor relations Volunteer management Advancement Services Qualifications/Competencies

  • Demonstrated success in major gift fundraising from donors outside of the U.S. with 10 years of direct fundraising experience of increasing responsibility

  • Demonstrated success in working collaboratively within a complex organization

  • Proven knowledge of fundraising from international constituents
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with a variety of constituent groups while building relationships

  • Demonstrated capacity to build and manage a team, including recruitment and performance management

  • Experience in establishing goals and metrics to assess success

  • Strong communications skills, oral and written

  • Exceptional analytical and strategic abilities

  • Master's degree or BA degree with 10 years functional experience

  • Fluency in a foreign language is a plus

  • Candidates with experience/knowledge working with underserved/diverse communities is a plus

  • Valid passport and capacity to travel internationally required

    Bachelor's with 10 plus years of functional experience.

    Master's preferred.
