The Finance Business Partner (FBP) objective is to provide financial research, analysis, reporting support to various Information Technology Towers. The overall budget responsibility is $70-$100M in operating expenses.

This role reports to the IT Finance Manager, Enterprise Technology Services who reports to the Second Vice President, Head of Financial Planning & Analysis- Enterprise Business & Technology Services


  • Partner with Technology CIO's to construct budgets and forecasts. Drive detailed input into budgeting and forecasting process, working extensively with Technology Finance systems and tools
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financials and present insights to the technology CIO's in a consolidated and standardized fashion, enabling key decisions and actions
  • Analyze the financial performance of various Information Technology Towers and communicate impact of chargebacks & allocations to lines of businesses
  • Engage and maintain active partnerships with financial business partners from lines of businesses
  • Analyze business case submissions in preparation for Capital Review Board
  • Work with applicable stakeholders to align technology solutions with business strategies
  • Assist in deriving value and ROI on Finance and Information Technology business cases
  • Analyze Expenses Authorization submission and report on highlight applicable risk and opportunities
  • Creative analysis to develop reporting and analysis for his/her business partners to ensure information is clear and concise when financial data is needed
  • Act as a change agent and driver for continuous improvement in technology finance business partnerships, reporting, tools and analytics
  • Understand how to retrieve, manipulate and interpret data from multiple tools to facilitate decision support
  • Ensure correct accounting of labor, applying capitalization guidelines, and understanding and explanation of drivers of variances as part of month-end process
  • Manage relationships and partner effectively within Technology Finance and Technology teams
  • Systems in collaboration with the Finance IT support team
  • Prioritize multiple deliverables and clients
  • Maintain labor and compensation data and partner effectively with HR Business Partners to provide labor reporting
  • Provide business insight to CFO Enterprise Operations, Technology & Initiatives and other FP&A team members.
  • Prepare financial summaries with detailed and insightful analytics.

  • Work with other Finance team members in supplying inputs for official reforecasts and apprising them of other portfolio financial updates

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, MBA a plus
  • 7-10 years finance/accounting experience, including financial analysis and planning, preferably in Information Technology
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, a technical understanding of IT, and knowledge in related sourcing and procurement framework
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle methodologies and related project accounting framework
  • Strong understanding of IT Chargeback and allocation methodologies
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and process management skills
  • Expertise in accounting and business finance activities such as budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, variance analysis, planning, and compliance
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Clarity Budgeting, Apptio and SmartView a plus.

  • Potential for occasional travel to other Guardian offices in New York, NY, Holmdel, NJ, Bethlehem, PA, or Pittsfield, MA (~ 5% of time).
