Finishing and Logistics Module (Department/Area) Manager

Georgia-Pacific is currently recruiting for a Finishing and Logistics Module Manager for its Foley Cellulose manufacturing facility in Perry, Florida.

This role will lead the Finishing and Logistics departments to work injury-free/incident free in a continuous manufacturing environment consistent with Market Based Management (MBM) philosophy and framework. This role will be responsible for supporting the Foley Work System Progression Design to align and optimize the manufacturing enterprise in delivering value to the business. The position reports to the Plant Operations Manager and manages four management level direct reports and a total organization of 73 employees, including union members.


A Day In The Life Typically Includes:



  • Striving for safety excellence through promoting employee involvement, ownership, & accountability to proactively identify hazards and implement the appropriate mitigating strategies based on the risk involved

  • Ensuring the module operates reliably, effectively and efficiently to production plan, produce, and ship product to domestic and international customers

  • Identifying key performance indictors and inspire & lead team to meet or exceed goals

  • Monitoring the quality of work & provide direction to team members to maximize efficiency

  • Facilitating team development/growth, and reviewing/managing performance

  • Building employee commitment & ownership and holding employees accountable

  • Developing job plans, track work completion and promote preventive & predictive maintenance for operations

  • Partnering with internal & external customers to meet and anticipate needs, regarding quality, on-time, and cost effective deliveries

  • Identifying contributions and missed opportunities within the department and provide recognition and/or lead gap closure plans

  • Assisting with troubleshooting and solving production & supply chain issues
Contacts/interfaces:
Internal (site): Interacts with key operations personnel such as the Plant Manager, Team Development Managers, Operations Manager, Logistics Manager, Safety Manager, Environmental Manager, Quality Manager, maintenance personnel and employees at all levels of the site organization.

External: Interacts with Corporate Production Planning Group, Corporate Supply Chain Group, Contracted Transportation Providers, Contracted warehouse facilities, The Georgia and Florida Port Authorities, and Corporate Accounting

What You Will Need:




Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree or higher OR four (4) years or more of relevant work experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in an industrial, manufacturing or military environment

  • Minimum of five (5) experience years in Logistics Management, Shipping, Production, or Supply Chain Management

  • Experience in employee performance management and change management

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelors degree or higher in engineering, industrial management, supply chain, or logistics

  • Experience managing performance & development of salaried personnel

  • Experience with reliability tools, such as root cause failure analysis & preventative/predicative maintenance tools

  • Experience working a manufacturing environment

  • Experience working in the pulp & paper industry

  • Experience managing in a union environment

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Knowledge of reliability, paper making, transportation, and supply chain preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working safely and promoting safe work practices required

  • Knowledge of basic accounting and finance preferred

  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people required

  • Ability to effectively communicate (oral & written) required

  • Ability to learn various PC-based production and operations applications required

  • Ability to build and align a team around a shared vision required

  • Ability to influence others within the organization required
