Position Summary

 

The Finishing Mechanic is responsible for keeping finishing equipment in good running condition by performing preventative maintenance, cleaning, testing, troubleshooting, set-ups, fine adjustments and repairs according to the Device Master Records.

Essential Functions

 

  • Maintains all logs and required documentation on equipment maintenance repair and service using GMPs
  • Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and good lab practices while performing equipment maintenance
  • Provides backup coverage in the finishing department as needed
  • Follows safety policies and procedures and ensures that all safety equipment is properly maintained
  • Verifies that all batch records, SOP’s and specifications are up to date and reflect the current procedures
  • Assures that all operations are performed according to SOPS and that any deviations from procedures are reported immediately to the manager.
  • Provides and verifies training on the proper use of all applicable batch records, SOPS and specifications. Assures that all batch records are accurately complete.
  • Maintains all working areas in a clean and orderly state. Assures that products are stored and segregated and clearly identified.
  • Disposes of damaged, rejected or residuals components according to SOP’s.
  • Identifies quality problems to supervisor and recommends solutions.
  • Follows all company environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines and conducts work in a safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Job Specifications (skills, knowledge, special training, certifications, license requirements)

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4+ years experience working with and repairing high volume lab equipment, as well as an understanding of manufacturing software, PLC and HMI systems
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with balances, peristaltic pumps, manual and automated liquid filling apparatus, and other standard manufacturing equipment
  • Minimum of 1 year experience with troubleshooting instrumentation issues and handling diagnostics,
  • Excellent mechanical skills required.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills necessary.Ability to perform visual inspections of equipment and product.
  • Ability to maneuver products through machinery and manually fill vials.
  • Ability to use a computer for data entry and statistical process controls.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Willingness to work with human and animal serum.
  • Ability to repair equipment manually and with machinery – sometimes in small, cramped spaces.
  • Ability to work in a high pressured, deadline oriented environment.
  • Ability to work overtime as required.
  • Excellent attendance required.
