Job Overview:
Supervises the garage facility under department managers guidance to ensure proper repair and preventive maintenance work is done on all tractors and trailers within budgetary guidelines, federal regulations and customer specifications, and that equipment is available for service as needed. Shifts will include a variety of days, nights and weekends.


Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
  • Must be able to communicate with associates at every level in the organization.
  • Partner with Risk Control Manager for the development of an annual Risk Control Action Plan to maintain and improve LCME standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations involving equipment repairs and shop safety.
  • Contribute to the annual operating and capital commitments for the garage operations and manage the commitment throughout the year.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the garage, including scheduling and staffing, parts supply.
  • Works with Transportation Operations to ensure that equipment needs are met for store deliveries.
  • Assist in supporting facility KPIs which consistently meet/exceed established goals, including but not limited to safety, quality, productivity, sanitation, and maintenance.
  • Recommend and implement improvements in warehouse practices to promote efficiency, faster service and lower costs.
  • Responsible for consistent and fair applications of the companys policies and procedures and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Job Requirements:
  • 5 + years prior experience in Vehicle Maintenance with the parent company preferred or similar over-the-road Class 8 fleet management experience, including at least 2-3 years supervisory experience.
  • ASE certification desired; multiple specialties preferred.
  • Extensive experience and/or formal training in trucking activities to include dispatching, scheduling and repairs. Prior experience in distribution transportation management required, preferably with the company.
  • Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing over-the-road- equipment and safety (such as DoT, OSHA, etc.), and prior experience with heavy-duty equipment safety programs.
  • Must possess aptitude for learning applicable computer systems used routinely, such as CAMS.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
