Essential Duties and Responsibilities



The Service Technician is responsible for efficiently and effectively diagnosing and repairing vehicles.



  • Accept assigned jobs from supervisor.

  • Perform work at or above efficiency standards.

  • Diagnose cause and malfunction and performs repairs.

  • Save and tag parts for warranty or as requested.

  • Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further repairs are needed or recommended.

  • Communicate with supervisor immediately if additional work is needed, if outlined work is not needed or if repairs cannot be completed in a reasonable or promised time.

  • Document in detail, work performed on repairs.

  • Road test when required.

  • Participate in training as required.

  • Keep abreast of manufacturer bulletins.

  • Report tool, machinery or equipment defects to supervisor.

  • Keep shop areas clean and safe.

  • Maintain and accountable for all dealership owned tools, materials and equipment.

  • Understand and comply with all federal, state and local regulations.

  • Perform all duties and activities in a safe manner.

  • Report any safety issues immediately to a supervisor.

  • Other duties to meet business requirements.


Education and Experience



To perform the A1 Master Technician job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with no supervision or instruction. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, training, and ability required to be an A1 Master.



  • Current DOT Inspector Certification.

  • Current Class A or B commercial drivers license, and DOT health certificateor ability to obtain within 90 days.

  • Maintain current technical certification in one computer controlled diesel engine and one computer controlled transmission.

  • Ford assigned web based courses completed.

  • Continued progress towards Master Technician certifications.

  • Continued improvement in quality of work and proficiency.

Preferred:



  • Graduation from a diesel/heavy truck tech, Ford Asset, or Ford Fact program

  • At least one OEM certification in process or completed

  • At least three years of on the job experience as a heavy truck technician

Physical demands



  • Bend, twist, kneel, crouch, work overhead

  • Lift to 70 pounds
