Intertek, a leading provider of ATIC (Assurance, Testing, Inspection, and Certification) Services, is looking for a Foreman to join our Building & Construction team in Farmingdale, NY.

This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising subordinates, equipment, and schedule at a regional laboratory or for a specific department at the Farmingdale, NY laboratory.

What you'll do:

  • Train, coordinate, and supervise subordinates, and work with subordinates to accomplish test schedule and satisfy customers' requests
  • Coordinate and supervise equipment and schedule, and advise lab manager of any scheduling difficulties and/or necessary changes
  • Take full responsibility for all assigned projects
  • Obtain and review job files in order to thoroughly understand contract requirement
  • Review and supervise test buck and chamber builds and confirm that they adhere to client's specifications
  • Prepare tests in a timely manner
  • Spot check work in progress and motivate subordinates
  • Review testing and provide direction as needed
  • Obtain and keep inventory of job specific required materials
  • Perform and/or witness testing in accordance with referenced specifications and procedures as necessary (in accordance with and pursuant to documented training)
  • Perform other work as required

What it takes to be successful in this role:
  • High school diploma or GED, Associate degree in a technical field preferred
  • Construction experience (general knowledge of basic construction and carpentry skills)
  • Experience with high reach lift equipment and working at height
  • Ability to learn the building envelope including wall cladding systems, curtain wall, window and door systems, waterproofing, roofing, etc. and their installation means and methods
  • Working knowledge of test methods and standards associated with testing of these systems or the ability to learn and comprehend these standards
  • Aptitude for working independently on assigned projects
  • Technical competency and ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers, both in writing and orally
  • Ability to develop and maintain good rapport with clients and subcontractors
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to meet changing priorities and strict deadlines
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to develop and maintain good rapport with clients, designers, contractors, etc
  • Good computer skills - Microsoft Office & Outlook
  • Ability to perform work from ladders, boom-lifts, suspended and supported scaffolding, roof levels, etc
  • Ability to routinely lift a minimum of 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, bend, crawl, push and pull as needed
  • Valid driver's license and reliable driving record (required)
  • Willingness to travel 75% of the time or more
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
