Freight Audit and Pay Lead

The Freight Audit and Pay Lead has responsibility for USCA freight audit and payment for each freight payment method that falls within the scope of GBS logistics. As the lead, this associate will provide analytical, technical and operational support to allow for timely payment to carriers via OTM and other methods used by GBS logistics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver reporting and metrics to measure performance and uncover bottlenecks in the freight pay process.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of business rules and audit requirements that align with SBU and GBS logistics leadership.
  • Subject matter expert on motor carrier rates and contracts as it relates to audit and payment.
  • Prioritize and distribute work to a team of auditors and provide auditors with required training and direction on day-to-day decision-making.
  • Lead or play a key role in ongoing improvement projects with in the freight audit and pay group.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities, create enhancement requests, and work closely with IT and or other departments to implement.
  • Build relationships with carriers and act as the first point of contact for escalated issues related to payables. Work closely with carriers to ensure PPG's freight pay processes are understood and followed.
  • Review data proactively to ensure receipt of proof of delivery in OTM to reduce payment status churn and impact to OTM accruals.
  • Act as liaison between GBS logistics and Accounting.
  • Timely maintenance of Master PPG USCA site freight pay bill to file.
  • Take ownership of ad hoc requests and administration related to freight audit and pay.


  • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, finance or a related field,
  • 3-5 years' experience with a thorough knowledge of transportation, logistics operations, and customer service requirements preferably with audit and payment and/or accounting experience.
  • Previous experience with OTM or TMS systems is a plus.
  • Daily problem solving skills, critical thinking, and ability to implement steps to prevent reoccurring problems
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Plan & organize daily tasks, communicate effectively & share information with SBU's, carriers and freight forwarders
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are key.
