This role oversees the Global Standards & Compliance teams strategy and program, ensuring global effectiveness and consistency. Manage global regulatory, customer and business required compliance policy across all regions driving consistent application of Equinix regulatory compliance policy and ensuring that the implemented regulatory policies and procedures achieve 100% compliance with local regulatory requirements while minimizing any negative impact to operations. Manage the Global Certification Compliance teams and implement consistent compliance management systems and certifications across the global footprint as related to ISO, SSAE, PCIDSS, NIST, HIPPA, etc. Implement and manage a global Health and Safety organization and plan, building on the existing platforms within Equinix to create a consistent and diverse training program with Global reach as well as regional-specific criteria.


Team / People Management

  • Oversees coordination of regional/global teams/staff, both direct and indirect teams.
  • Sets and tracks objectives for regional/global teams/staff

Compliance Strategy and Budget Management

  • Sets and tracks a consistent global compliance strategy for Equinix on an annual basis
  • Sets and tracks departmental budget at a global level

Audit Management

  • Provides guidance and ownership of internal and external audit programs
  • Tracks and monitors audit performance through non-conformance corrective action and risk management
  • Liaises with senior management in case of major audit findings and risk
  • Reports/Distributes audit results to global and regional stakeholders

Project Management

  • Monitors and manages overall effectiveness of Standards team on cross-regional Operations, Engineering and Construction projects.
  • Addressing overall communication and timing issues with projects

Subject Matter Expertise

  • Management systems, policy and process standards
  • Information Security, Service Quality, Business Continuity, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy compliance and associated tools and software that support their administration, implementation, and operation

External Stakeholder Management

  • Owns and manages external certification body audit contracts and is responsible for relationship management with such audit vendors
  • Owns and manages vendor contracts directly used/owned by the standards team
  • Owns Health & Safety Program to be implemented and adhered to by the site teams


  • 15+ years of experience
  • 10+ years managerial experience with management system standards in data center operations or equivalent critical process industry preferred
  • Master's degree
  • Expert knowledge level of health, safety, environmental and energy regulatory, risk and compliance requirements as related to data center operations (e.g. generator permitting and emissions, fuel/chemical spill, refrigerant handling, wastewater, legionella, electrical hazards, waste disposal, energy reduction measures, collaborative emergency response plans with local agencies, etc.)
  • Expert knowledge level of information security requirements and business continuity measures (e.g. data privacy, physical security compliance, impact analyses, crisis management
  • Extensive knowledge of data center operating requirements preferred
  • Awareness level understanding of major regulatory initiatives in specific regions (e.g. data privacy, Euro6 for air pollutants or CFC refrigerant phase-out)
  • Background in setting Information Security, Service Quality, Business Continuity, Health and Safety, Environment and Energy policies and procedures and identifying, running and implementing consistent tools and supporting software solutions
  • Knowledge and experience in Standards Compliance processes
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with disparate teams and leverage indirect influence and management to impact decision making
  • Solid skill level and experience involving written and verbal correspondence with outside regulatory agencies
  • Ability to sort through complex technical issues and implement innovative solutions to resolve difficult problems
  • Ability to arbitrate differing opinions and drive to the best decision quickly
  • Must be able to travel internationally, up to 25%.
