As the Graphic Designer/Illustrator III you provide design inspiration, direction, mood boards, etc. and will be responsible for concepting logos/branding/designs to be used across a variety of platforms including print, digital and documentation. You will be creating compelling ideas and designs that are targeted toward our sponsors and stakeholders mission. Your design will help to simplicity convey complex technical solutions and products. Designing original concept sketches, mock-ups, illustrations, and web pages. Using your knowledge of layout, proportion, color, typography, imagery and other matters related to graphic design to make recommendations and create visual assets that adhere to the customers standards. You will apply your graphical capabilities and information design principles to enhance the usability of web and print content for training and outreach activities. Translating qualitative and quantitative information into tangible recommendations for the team. You will be expected to develop, maintain, and enforce standards and requirements for multiple products for the training and outreach organization. You will also prove design leadership awareness of design and technology tools and solutions. Participating in product reviews and design sessions with peers and stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization.

Specific tasks that the Desktop Publisher will ensure is accomplished, either online or as instructor-led opportunities, includes:

  1. Cropping, editing and creating product images
  2. Creating graphics/skins for websites
  3. Create product banners and promotional ads for websites and newsletters
  4. Responsible for maintaining and updating our print catalog
  5. Creating brochures and advertisements for various publications
  6. Creating graphics for newsletters, blogs and social media
  7. Building, developing, and maintaining an organized library of design assets
  8. Managing exporting files for print and web (i.e., color modes, file formats, file sizing, image sizing constraints, and aspect ratios.
  9. Strive to continuously improve the quality of your work as well as our internal processes to contribute to the overall success of the Program. Stay current with industry best practices and share with your coworkers to help improve everyones skills
  10. Assist in developing training to ensure end users of DIA systems understand how to use DIA Products.
  11. Assist in developing, sustain, update DIAs product library to ensure all training is applicable to current production environment.

Required Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
  2. Bachelor's w/ 05-07 yrs. experience, Master's w/ 03-05 yrs. experience Or related equivalent experience w/o a degree
  3. 3. Knowledge of one or more; InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional, Print Production and its technologies including hardware, software and color management and calibration.
  4. Knowledge of PowerPoint and ability to create visual concepts
  5. Knowledge on how to develop a well-balanced, well-aligned graphics with consistent spacing, style, and format, correct spelling, and adherence to a consistent style.
  6. Knowledge on how to create, draw, maintain, processes and archives diagrams and detailed illustrations for print or online technical documentation from sketches, photos, actual parts and ideas
  7. Ability to work iteratively during solution sessions.
  8. Ability to incorporates feedback from reviewers to improve initial draft concepts
  9. DIA systems experience [e.g., Machine-Assisted Analytic Rapid-Repository System (MARS), Generic Area Limitations Environment (GALE), Functional Intelligence System of Hierarchical Networks (FISHNet), FounDRI, Event Data, Defense Economics Database, Object Based Production (OBP), Activity Based Intelligence (ABI), IC Information Technology Enterprise (ICITE)].

Desired Qualifications:

  1. STEM Masters degree (e.g., computer science, management information systems, systems engineering).
  2. Professional Certification(s) [e.g., DoD Instructional Systems Design Professional Certification]
  3. Experience using Agile systems implementation methodologies.
  4. Mission/Business Capability analysis experience determining how a capability should work and how changes in conditions, threat, mission, ROE, operations, technology and the environment will affect outcomes.
  5. Experience delivering multi-media training and educational products.
  6. Experience delivering final products through any cost-reasonable and available means.
  7. Experience developing plans, processes, tools, techniques to collect user community/user training feedback and customer satisfaction (e.g., surveys, questionnaires), analyze/assess results, incorporating into continuous improvement.
