DJ Instruments is a manufacturer of custom flow-thru pressure sensors that serve OEMs in Life Sciences and In Vitro Diagnostics. Were seeking innovative and motivated mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to help us accelerate our growth and serve our customers well.


Essential Job Functions:


  • Lead hardware designer for products using precision analog circuit design, and microcontrollers.

  • Works from customer requests, specifications, and written or verbal instructions to design and develop required electronic circuitry for complex new products; prepares necessary schematics, drawings, analysis; prototypes and conducts final acceptance testing to determine conformance with pre-determined objectives.

  • Using defined customer and marketing requirements, determine product feasibility based on technology availability, cost, schedule and risk. Develop proof of concept and prototypes to validate product performance and demonstrate that the marketing requirements are met.

  • Think outside the box to increase the performance of the product (faster, better and cheaper) in all engineering disciplines: electrical, software, mechanical, signal processing, testing, etc. Continually investigate ways to improve product performance.

  • Write and review hardware design documents, which describe the hardware architecture, IP blocks and reuse, test plans, and application interfaces.

  • Actively participate in hardware and software architectural definition, discussions and risk assessment. Provide technical guidance on new hardware designs and sustaining activities. Estimate task complexity, schedule, and risk for defined hardware development tasks.

  • Select, specify and approve all electrical components required for completion of project.

  • Follow through on pilot production of new products; prepare schedule, furnish required documentation, troubleshoot and take corrective action.

  • Coordinate development and design activities with customers, as well as sales, engineering, manufacturing and quality control personnel.

  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures

  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required

Other Qualifications:


  • Experience precision analog circuit design, and microcontrollers.

  • Experience with schematic capture and layout tools such as Altium (preferred), Mentor Graphics PADS or Xpedition, OrCAD Cadence, KiCad with 8 or more layers, differential signaling, small-pitch packages.

  • An understanding of basic lab test equipment (oscilloscope, function generators, DMM, multimeter, etc)

  • Analog circuit design experience for strain-gage-based sensors a plus.

  • IC design experience a plus.

  • Knowledge of C, C#, and/or microcontroller coding a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to interface with a global customer-base on technical issues

  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, management, and co-workers

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and willing to present new ideas.
