Job Description

Primary Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Head of Finance Digitization will influence and develop strategy for finance digitization activities, including partnering with IT to ensure successful implementation of finance technology solutions to optimize accounting and finance operations through automation, transformation and technology initiatives. The role will be responsible for influencing target state architecture for finance systems and for driving partnership with IT to ensure solutions meet the needs of business stakeholders. The Head of Finance Digitization will be a key member of the CAO team as well as a key leader within the overall CFO function.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive accounting and finance expertise, deep knowledge of banking products, strong understanding of finance system technology needs for large financial institutions, and a track record of successfully overseeing complex large-scale finance transformation programs.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead and influence strategic and operational planning to achieve accounting and finance digitization goals for process innovation and finance system modernization
  • Lead evaluation, deployment, and management of finance digitization efforts, including implementing solutions that meet business objectives, data governance requirements, and enforce sound operational and financial internal controls
  • Partner with IT to integrate finance system target state architecture within overall IT roadmap
  • Drive centralization of finance technology decision-making, spend, and value tracking to enable a cohesive finance technology roadmap, including ERP Transformation
Specific Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Establish and maintain finance digitization goals, objectives, KPIs, and operating procedures and support models for finance digitization efforts
  • Drive the vision and leadership for developing and implementing finance technology initiatives across all areas of finance
  • Partner closely with members of accounting, finance, treasury, business units, IT and internal controls teams to define strategies that maximize the impact of technology on business operations
  • Ensure investment in finance digitization and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house system development, are cost-effective and meet business needs
  • Advise, counsel and educate executives and management on finance systems strategy as well as industry trends
  • This position will manage a team of business analyst(s) and technology analyst(s)

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

This individual will possess deep working knowledge of accounting, finance, and treasury operations, commercial banking products, and finance technology needs for large financial institutions. The individual will have a distinguished record of successfully implementing large scale finance transformation projects in order to support growth and scalability.

The successful candidate will have at least 10+ years of leadership experience as a finance or accounting leader at a major financial institution. Prior career experience influencing and designing finance technology solutions is also highly desirable. In addition, the individual will possess the following:

  • Strong understanding of finance, accounting, and treasury operations and finance system architecture needs for large financial institutions
  • Excellent knowledge of financial transactions flow and their financial reporting and regulatory reporting impacts
  • Extensive experience with commercial banking products and accounting treatment
  • Experience leading large scale finance transformation efforts, including ERP implementation
  • Experience in corporate strategy creating and implementing strategic plans and roadmaps at the executive level for enterprise-wide business initiatives
  • Strong strategic and execution skills with ability to influence, collaborate, and work across the CAO/CFO and CIO organizations and interface with external auditors and regulators
  • Proven and demonstrated leadership skills including relationship building, change management, and collaboration skills with a clear ability to influence, gain buy-in and negotiate with partners and peers
  • Extensive experience with Sarbanes-Oxley and US GAAP and familiarity with IFRS and supervisory expectations for large complex financial institutions
  • Ability to think innovatively in developing and executing change
  • Ability to attract, develop, and retain exceptional corporate talent
  • Resilient self-starter who is comfortable pivoting often and learning continuously
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage and lead multiple activities simultaneously
Education/Certification: Candidate must possess an undergraduate degree in accounting and/or business administration. Master's degree and CPA designation highly preferred.
