Health Information Line Nurse (HIL) - Work-at-home

Must be able to work rotating shifts:

  • Morning Start Times- 6:30a-10:30 a.m.
  • Evening 11:30a.m. and latest shift end time is 2:30am

    Summary description of position:

    Registered nurses assist patients by providing telephonic triage ranging from emergent to self care, counseling on appropriate health care options, providing proactive health status management and identifying and managing plan participants to increase their ability to make informed decisions concerning their healthcare needs. The nurse will utilize online resources to assess medical symptoms, provide counsel on the most appropriate provider/facility to assure the most appropriate use of medical services. Additional responsibilities of the nurse may include patient outreach, benefit counseling and health and wellness education.

    Major Responsibilities and Results

    Telephonic Triage of symptom based calls. Ranging from emergent to self- care outcomes.

    Providing pertinent health and wellness information to meet the needs of the caller

    Educate members about online tools and the Audio Health Resource Library for additional access to their healthcare options and health/wellness information

    Direct callers to appropriate providers of care

    Maintain case records with clear, concise, pertinent documentation, conforming to product standard operating procedures and medical/legal guidelines

    Educate members on and offer referrals to other programs such as Case Management, Chronic Condition Management and/or Health Advisor

    Minimum requirements:

    • Unencumbered RN Licensure
    • Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferable in an acute care setting
    • Current knowledge of general medical diagnoses and surgical procedures
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Intermediate Computer skills with multiple programs
    • Must have access to high speed, broadband wired internet with a modem. Cigna cannot support satellite-based internet or hot spots

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Baccalaureate degree
    • Over 3 years of nursing experience
    • Excellent interpersonal skills; open listening skills and ability to work in a team environment
    • Proven ability to adapt to change
    • Proven ability to set priorities, problem solve and make autonomous decisions
    • Excellent customer service focus

    This role is WAH which allows work to be performed at home. Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite. Currently we are encouraging all employee to remain working from home and all onsite meetings require a virtual option. Are you willing and able to comply with our policy?

    This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
