The HR Generalist role provides a wide variety of Human Resources support to all levels in the organization including compliance, record management, employee benefit administration, recruitment, employee relations, and championing HSCs Culture. A general knowledge in all areas of human resources including recruitment, coaching and development, employment law, employee relations, career growth, performance management, and compensation is needed. This role will partner with and provide guidance to leadership and HR team members in an effort to positively influence organizational performance and drive our culture statement/values.



Essential Functions



  • Define, design, and implement recruiting strategies to ensure a diverse and robust pool of candidates.

  • Manage the pre-employment and onboarding processes for all new hires.

  • Conduct, under the HRM supervision, investigations on employee relations matters.

  • Investigate and respond to unemployment insurance claims.

  • Provide guidance to leaders and employees on applicable HR policies and processes.

  • Respond to employee suggestions and complaints and be available to assist employees with human relations needs/questions.

  • Contribute in development and implementation of HR metrics; analyze data and provide recommendations.

  • Participate in development and/or continuous improvement of HR processes and practices.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations as they pertain to human resources.

  • Administer key employee benefit programs WC, FMLA, STD/LTD, and UI.

  • Maintain employee records in compliance with applicable legal requirements. Conduct regular audits of employee files.

  • Provide support to employees regarding questions/concerns relating to policies and benefits.

  • Organize and keep track of disciplinary actions and terminations.

  • Assist with recruiting efforts for exempt and non-exempt positions.

  • Manage departmental communications in partnership with the corporate communications team.

Additional Duties



  • Process FMLA/STD/LTD and WC claims.

  • Support the performance management program (C2).

  • Assist with intern/co-op recruiting and hiring.

  • Provide compensation recommendations for internal promotions.

  • Provide support for talent management initiatives.

  • Provide back-up support to the HR Administrator.

  • Process expense reports and invoices.

  • Conduct onboarding sessions.

  • Process Verification of Employment requests.

Education Requirements



  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Behavior, Business, or a related field.

  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred, but not required.

Work Experience Requirements



  • 0-5 years of experience in Human Resources
