HR Senior Specialist

The HR Senior Specialist provides support in a variety of HR disciplines to support processes, programs and projects. They operate as the lead HR Representative for a Regional Delivery Distribution Center and 2-3 smaller Delivery Distribution Centers (DDC). They function as the primary HR resource to business partners. Their responsibilities include headcount planning and acquisition. They oversee employee relations, consultation, coaching and overall HR administration. Under the leadership of the LHRM, they ensure consistent application of policy, legal compliance and maximizes talent to meet the needs of the DDC while maintaining a collaborative, union-free environment. They partner with building leadership to identify risks within the operation while promoting an efficient, effective and safe culture. This role lives and teaches our values and leadership expectations, drives employee engagement and partners with building management to support the scope and complexity of the operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a subject matter expert in a specialized HR discipline, consults with leaders and teams to support processes/programs/projects. Performs work, monitors progress, manages risk, and escalates issues.
  • Supports the DDC Director and the Logistics Human Resource Manager by driving HR initiatives and operating as a strategic HR business partner.
  • Support HR Manager and building leadership in key responsibility areas: Employee Relations, Compensation, Staffing, Payroll & Benefits, Organizational Development.
  • Possesses advanced knowledge and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts for the HR team supported.
  • Represent Best Buy at recruitment events such as job fairs, college career fairs, community events, etc.
  • Oversees recruitment and hiring which includes organizing and attending job fairs and posting of positions, maintaining applicant flow, managing and leveraging a 3rd party workforce, and conducting all aspects of the hiring process.
  • Administers the payroll and timekeeping functions, to include the maintenance of attendance and daily payroll.
  • Conducts hourly and exempt-level recruitment/selection process to ensure high quality hires as well as compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity requirements. Partner with building leadership to ensure department hiring/staffing objectives are followed.
  • Builds effective relationships with business partners outside of his/her immediate team and collaborates cross-functionally with a moderate level of ambiguity to support processes/programs/projects.
  • Functions independently as an expert within assigned area with limited guidance from manager
  • Exercises discretion and independent decision-making in responding to unique situations
  • Partners with Distribution Center, Service Depot and/or Department of Defense leadership to foster a thriving culture of personal growth, learning and employee engagement
  • Delivers programs around performance management, talent management and rewards programs.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 3 years of Human Resources experience in Business, Military or related fields
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or Higher in Human Resources, Business or related fields
