Bushing Spool Assembly (BSA) Cell Product Delivery Technician (PDT)

Within the framework of a team-based organization, perform various precision assembly, test and process based operations on complex components, assemblies and systems supporting new production and repair and overhaul activity.

Together with other team members (e.g., supervisors, lead persons, etc), provide leadership and direction to the team by coordinating efforts, developing capabilities, communicating status and leading change to improve team performance.

Support team initiatives and coordinate/manage team performance through the use of metrics and data to meet or exceed delivery performance goals. This position will be expected to be heavily involved in implementing lean production systems and will be tasked with leading kaizen events and daily standup meetings.

Production responsibilities include:

  • Performs lapping and grinding functions to tight tolerances.
  • Participation in the planning of work and resolution of problems within the Cell, using team skills.
  • Inspect all work performed and detect unusual conditions, defective materials, and deviate parts, recognizing errors in blueprints and operation sheets.
  • Positively contribute to the teamwork environment in terms of productivity, cooperation, data collection, Lean infrastructure and attitude.
  • May be required to support production within Assembly & Test and/or the Manufacturing Shop.

Management responsibilities focus on the following:

  • Develop and refine performance metrics
  • Refine and execute manufacturing plans (level schedule)
  • Day-to-day issue resolution and problem solving
  • Lead process improvements
  • Lead Tier 1 Board daily
  • Initiate NCs and support RCCA
  • Support and improve standard work
  • Lead/support 5S and Kaizen activities

Basic Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or formal training equivalency plus 3 years as an APDT or plus 9 years of A&T experience
OR
  • Two year technical degree plus 2 years as an APDT or plus 6 years of A&T experience.
OR
  • Four year technical degree plus 2 years as an APDT or plus 4 years of A&T experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints a must.
  • Lean Manufacturing certificate desired.
  • Lean and Value Stream Mapping experience a plus.
