As we continue to grow, we have an opportunity for an Automation Manager who would be responsible for managing a new team of infrastructure automation engineers who deliver high quality automation for IT infrastructure and DevOps scrum teams. This is an opportunity to help Medline establish automation for the deployment, management and monitoring of systems, storage and databases for on premise, co-location and cloud environments.

The manager works across teams to assist with projects, initiatives and opportunities to increase IT efficiencies. This position also has oversight of the Automation Team and the automation tools used to manage virtual systems, storage and databases.

Finally, the IS Automation Team Manager establishes, tracks and reports on key performance metrics to demonstrate the overall performance of the team on a regular basis. A successful candidate for this position will have a strong technical background with relevant experience as a team member/leader of a technical team. Candidates should also have previous experience managing technical teams in engineering and production support environments.
Manage daily activities for the Automation Team
Set team vision and align priorities with senior IS management
Work with business sponsors to identify automation technology needs and identify potential solutions for them
Effect tactical and strategic changes to continually improve performance
Manage automation tools and through the application life cycle process.
Document standard process and procedures
Evaluate new and emerging infrastructure automation technologies for use at Medline
Coach team members in technical and professional aspects of their jobs
Work with senior leadership to set quarterly goals, track progress against plans.
Create and maintain performance metrics used to measure and improve performance.
Manage key vendor relationships and engage in negotiations as necessary
Work with other IS and business units in cross-team initiatives and projects, provide project management for smaller initiatives as needed
Manage support contracts and agreements for related technical software
Maintain a professional demeanor at all times. Consistently interact professionally and work productively with all levels of Medline employees. Follow Medlines Code of Ethics and other corporate policies

Job Qualifications

Superior oral and written communication skills; able to communicate with a wide range of people from technical peers to heads of business and end users
Excellent organizational skills, pays close attention to detail
Works well independently, exercises good judgment
Demonstrated technical experience with server technologies such as Terraform, SALT, Python, Chef, Puppet, Ansible
Bachelors degree a plus
Ability to act as a technical mentor/advisor to the Server Team as well as other technical teams
Previous Information Technology management experience
that has managed developers and programmers would be required
Willingness to work flexible hours and be available as needed
Roughly 5-10% travel may be required
Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio) software
